1.. I think Raymond knows JJ's game, they've seen each other for so many years from the juniors..

    2. Gomez is winning .. he's the real #1 on the team

    3. Quiroz may give a fight and might give Frank some fits being a lefty ,but Frank is too cool...

4.. Hanfmann has everything ... he could be the next Steve Johnson...

    5. De Vroome is still a rookie ,still making rookie mistakes ..

    6. exactly why Eric Johnson will win.. he finds ways to come back like DWin did ..

lets remember that socal10s said he liked pepperdine's matchup against uva a couple days ago

you know, the pepperdine team that went 1-2 in this event without facing either of the two top programs in college tennis, because they have zero depth

:oops:yes you are right .. it's just one person's opinion .. I wouldn't bet on it .. just having fun chatting about it .. arm chair quarterback, you know :),but then again that match never happened .. these things are about personal match-ups ..

it's all because I love Pepperdine .. without the dorms ,that school is smaller than some community college I've seen, but they're still competing with the nation's top D1 schools in so many sports ..

I tell you one thing.. I can't wait to watch the USC vs UCLA this coming Friday .. Marks Stadium is going to rumble ... there's going to be some line-up changes,i think..

No, but they are not use to play indoors and with a new coach it's a building year.

Looks like Styslinger isn't ready for bigtime college tennis yet. Everyone assumed he would be like Frank and never lose. But he has already lost twice at 4(he got saved by the bell on one of them).

We're behind where I thought we'd be, but I may have been overly optimistic. Lack of consistent results from match to match. Alford is the only player that gives a good showing every time. Diep, Johnson, and Watson are all over the board.

Not sure what is up with Piro, but he is really good. Had to be an issue with him to go down 2&0 and sit the next day.

This will take a couple months to straighten out the play. And a couple years to straighten out the program.

It's his mistake for going to UVA. Sad to see his talent go to waste like this. All these guys want to go to Virginia because they have snazzy ipads or XBOX's in the locker room (this is seriously a reason for Domijan). Meanwhile their talent declines each year. Look at Justin Shane. People thought he would eventually be #1 for UVA and now look where he is, fighting to be at 6. Manny Diaz never wastes talent. If I were advising a junior where to go Georgia would always be 1. And after that there are several places I would tell them to go before Virginia.

Dawg, we can't hear you. It must be the engine noise from your team's plane ride home.

What? The 6 title rings are making too much noise jingling together.

Sounds like it's getting heated in this thread, glad to see some passion. I took yesterday off from stringing, and I got to catch the UVA/OSU match, that one was pretty thrilling to see live. I'm pretty undermotivated to spectate, though, when I've been stringing all day and night. I also find much of the cheering to be bordering on obnoxious. I find that Men's college tennis feels even more dramatic than a lot of the stuff I see in the Pros. I totally understand the camaraderie and team aspect to it, though, so I give it a pass. As a stringer, though, I'm always glad to see UVA come out on top, they're a pretty good customer :twisted::twisted:

It's probably just your "Tied for 7th" trophy your team just picked up. Do they give you a trophy for that? Maybe it just says "Participant".

Doesn't that imply that JJ knows Raymond's game, also?

and, as a result, this match is over - congrats to uva on another indoor title

maybe uva fans won't say it yet due to the jinx factor, but they simply won't lose four singles matches

domijan up 3-1 and not getting touched on his serve

these teams are in two different weight classes this yr, regardless of what peter smith will do to try to get his team caught up by NCAAs

I gotcha MJ, I've been watching the Styslinger/Hanfmann match. Big turn around there - Mac was up 3-0 and now is serving at 3-5

I don't like these teams. They all have cookie-cutter styles of play. Where's the creativity and originality in this sport these days?

yikes, will have to check in there

meanwhile quiroz broken again - attempted two random dropshots early in rallies, neither of which worked at all, so i sense he has given up trying to compete with the wall from the baseline

Hanfmann takes the 1st set at #4 singles 6-4. He started out real slow with a slew of unforced errors. Once he got calmed down he started dictating pace pretty well.

i doubt UVA needs any of the 4-6 matches, but a cushion would be nice if one of the shanes can take a first set in the next few min

who mentioned Texas? The current Texas squad sucks, I know that. Pushers like crazy there. Sitaram used to be creative and bright but college tennis has grinded him down.

Eric Johnson just took the 1st set 7-5 at #6 singles. Broke J. Shane at love to do it.

UVA would be better off without jshane in singles - they have great players that don't go on wild streaks of unforced errors and seem to crumble in every big moment - maybe the kid is very likeable and works hard - but some don't have the ice in their veins

that's what i would do if i was boland - or the senior JU

obviously i'm not an accomplished coach like boland, and i understand the coaching principle of sticking with guys through tough times, but at some point it's time to cut your losses for the good of the group

I've been watching at 3. Quiroz is relying on some gutsy serves to hold, but Frank is winning the long rallys. I get the feeling that Quiroz will have a game where his serve goes cold, and Frank will run from there. Hope that i'm wrong. I'd hate to see this one end quickly.

Another indoor title is great, but I'm betting the NCAA title is what UVA fans really want.

The program has achieved everything you could ask of a tennis program, except the NCAA team title. So, this is all just a precursor to May's will-they-or-won't-they drama.

I live in Springfield, Illinois, 70 minutes from Champaign, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the NCAA tournament live this year.

Johnson put a USC point on the board, taking care of Shane pretty routinely.

Lucky you get to go live bluetrain4, I am hoping for good video quality like this.
