VCU at duke vcu at duke
Duke blowing VCU out as expected
#13 Illinois at #27 Notre Dame – 6pm est – LiveStats - Should be a good one...
Google Chrome informs me that the LiveStats page is in French, and offers to translate. I guess the words "Notre Dame" and "Illinois" look French.
Notre Dame won dubs and they split 1st sets. Hiltzik has won for Illinois but Notre Dame is close to finishing at 3 and 5.
Well the scoreboard showed Notre Dame's Michael Moore taking the 1st set at 6 by a 6-4 score but as Bruno Abdelnour took the 2nd set 6-3 the scoreboard changed and showed the match was over with Bruno winning 6-4 6-3.
Now the scoreboard has switched again and its showing Michael Moore won 6-4 6-3 so it may be 2-1 Notre Dame
LOL, college tennis scoring strikes again. Amazing how they can't get this right.
Notre Dame takes out Illinois 4-1.
#28 VCU at #44 North Carolina – 3pm est – LiveStats
#30 Michigan vs. #12 Pepperdine – 4pm est/1pm pst – LiveStats
#75 Indiana at #41 Louisville - 4pm est - LiveStats
Hawaii at #2 UCLA - 5pm est/2pm pst - LiveStats
Michigan takes dubs over Pepperdine. If King beats Fanselow Michigan could pull the upset since the Waves are so vulnerable at 5 & 6.
VCU is roughing up UNC. Hess-Olesen is back at 1 for UNC but currently down a set
Sarkissian destroyed at 3, Michigan getting close to pulling the upset over Pepperdine
Looks like it'll probably come down to Moush at 5. Alcantara has won 4 straight games against Zhu and now leads 4-2 in the 3rd.
Indiana on the verge of another disappointing loss. Reminds me of Clemson of last year, better than their ranking but can't get over that 3 point hump.
Before his freefall I used to call Moush the most clutch player in college tennis because if his ability to win 3rd set breakers. Lets see if he calls on his past self here .
UCLA passed USC in the rankings this week. Drake jumped from 27 to 16. FSU jumped from 44 to 26.
Moush led 5-2 in the 3rd - now up 6-5 with Franks serving to force a 3rd set TB for the match
6 has been terrible and now Tasic the # 4 has missed the last 2 trips. Juneau at 1 has failed to make any leap either. Very disappointing.
Furman at Stanford - 4:30 pm est/1:30 pm pst - LiveStats&Video
Penn State at Texas - 7pm est/6pm cst - LiveStats - also on the Longhorn Network if you get it.
Thank God we are playing Furman today, maybe we can get back in the win column.
Shutout for the Card today.
congrats to your son, eddie
and one question:
did your son consider staying in his home area at Yale where they have a higher ranked tennis team in addition to the great academics that both schools offer?
just messing with you - if every post of yours is going to be obviously about your son and his team, gotta have a little bit of fun with you - best of luck to him in the next few years
Friday Matches of Interest
All the SEC matches should be close except for Florida/South Carolina. It'll be interesting to see if Pepperdine can hang with USC. You figure they'd have to take doubles and find a way to win 1, 2, and 3 singles. That Baylor/Kentucky match could have upset potential.
Off to Oxford to see Georgia/Ole Miss - I believe KU Singh practiced this week so maybe I'll get to see him back on the court.
Georgia/Ole Miss Blog
Made an edit from mobile and it deleted all the other links. This one below has them too.
About 50 people in the stands right now in Oxford for Georgia/Ole Miss
Singh in doubles at least
Smaller crowd due to spring break
Ole Miss gets the doubles point.....we dug too deep a hole at 1 and 2. We had a chance to get back on serve at 2 but Ole Miss was too tough.
Ole Miss/Georgia tied at 3 and Ole Miss just broke on 4 to go up 3-2 in the 3rd. UGA's Austin Smith served for the match up 6-1 5-4 but couldn't close it.
Kallberg 6/4 in third.
Good match, #1 was well played
Top dawg were you in the red hat and shirt videoing?
It'll be interesting to see whether TopDawg thinks. Did Smith get tight it did Backstrom dig deep?
Meanwhile Stropp making a big comeback vs Reese
Kentucky is getting blasted by Baylor. About to lose 4-0
Smith was very tight serving up 4-3 and 5-4 in the 2nd. Once it went to a 3rd set I figured Kallberg would take it. Most points ended with a Smith error, Kallberg did a good job staying patient and kept it in play.
KU was up 5-2 in the 2nd, got broke at 30-40 serving up 5-3, was up 15-40 on Scholtz serve but couldn't break. Scholtz was the better player today.
Wagland played well in the 1st set until he got broke at 5-5. He got really frustrated after that and faded quickly in the 2nd.
Brasseaux, Pieters, and Pasha all won fairly easily
Ole Miss rose to the occasion and we did not.
I'll post some video over the weekend.
I'm surprised Baylor is smacking Kentucky like they are. There really isn't any order after the top 4(maybe 3).
i always though kentucky was well overrated at 5
Florida/South Carolina tied at 3 with 3rd set just starting at 2.
Adams vs Piro for the match. This would be a big win for the Gamecocks. I can't in all good conscience root for the gamecocks. But at least this shows that Clemson didn't lose to a average team.
From USC tweets: USC 4-2 over Pepperdine
They played singles first.
#5 Johnson (USC) clinches for Trojans def Hovhannisyan (Pep) 3-6 6-1 7-5
#2 Sarmiento (USC) def Tearny (Pep) 6-3 3-6 6-3.
#1 Gomez (USC) def Fanselow (Pep) 6-4 6-4
#4 Hanfmann (USC) def Sarkissi (Pep) 6-4 6-4
#6 Sofaer (Pep) def De Vroome (USC) 6-4 6-1
edit final match: #3 Alcantar (Pep) def Quiroz (USC) at 3, 4-6 6-4 7-6 (3)
Adams takes out Diep at 2 (per live scoring)
Frankly, the shocker to me was Koch over Watson in straights. Never would've saw that one.
Alford going down after taking the first is odd too.
Kudos to SC
Wow SC vs Clemson and Florida almost the same exact result. 3 cox lost in two tight sets in each, 4 Pinheiro came from a set down in each, 5 Koch won in straights each time, 6 Menzies lost in straights each time. Adams won both times but in 3 vs UF rather than 2 vs Clemson.
The difference was UF took doubles and Clemson took #1 singles.
Enough about Clemson
Clemson hasn't beaten a team ranked higher than 31 this year and most likely won't. Why don't you take a rest until they beat someone in the top 16.
6 of the 10 wins they have came against unranked teams. They took 1 set against a Georgia team which started 3 freshman and played without their #1. Enough already about Clemson.
Ole Miss/UGA was interesting in the doubles with a smoky haze floating into town, thankfully it left before the singles started.
Routinely beat two teams that took Ole Miss and Miss State to the brink.
You can read another forum.
You have your own topic "Clemson Tennis" put whatever you want to say about Clemson in there, and then people can choose to read about Clemson if they wish. Stop trying to saturate other topics with Clemson stuff. It's not like they are even a factor in college tennis. They haven't been for a long time. Also, don't start comparing scores. Just because Auburn played Ole Miss and Mississippi State close, that doesn't mean Clemson would have. It's all in the match ups. If you really want to compare scores, Clemson won one set against Georgia, yesterday Ole Miss beat Georgia, it seems to me Clemson wouldn't have a chance in hell against Ole Miss. Again, just because Auburn played them close, it doesn't mean you would. When SEC teams play each other, it's a whole new ballgame.
But since we are talking about Clemson, why does everyone say they have the worst officials (home cooking) in the world. The average age of officials there has got to be 70. If you want to root for a winner. Root for the womens team. Those girls can play.
Oh man the ESECPN brainwash has translated to other sports. Now I know why Clemson beat auburn and Alanama. The just simply didn't care about playing an ACC team, cause its a whole new ball game when SEC teams play each other.
It's about matchups. I agree. Clemson vs UGA wasn't a good matchup, but that dosent mean Clemson would get killed vs Ole Miss. Just like Clemson beating Auburn dosent mean Auburn can't play well vs Ole Miss.
Everyone talks about their favorite team in here from time to time. Not all of my posts are about Clemson. We have Indiana, Memphis, Cal, Minnesota, UNC and more in here talking their teams. And those aren't top teams either. What's wrong with that? Do you want this thread to be all about top 5 maybe 10 teams only? I personally like when the fans of those teams I mentioned post.
Can't believe someone would post something like this. We need more college tennis fans like Clemson Tiger but you want him to be quiet? Unbelievable.
We are lucky to have Top Dawg on this forum. If it was only you and Dawgie Dawg, my opinion of Georgia would be way down.
Clemson_tennis is a solid contributor to this board and he knows his stuff. I rarely ever see you post on here, so please don't be telling other people where they should and should not post. And, if you want to talk about useless saturation, talk to Dawgie Dawg.
Texas-Michigan are playing indoors due to weather. First ever indoor match at Texas. No internet at indoor facility. Scores are being phoned in to someone at the Texas Men's Tennis Twitter account. Looks like #1 doubles might decide the opening point.
Michigan comes from 5-6 down, receiving a break down, at #2 doubles to win it 8-6. From 4-4, they made it to 7-5 DNF at #1 doubles. Michigan takes the doubles point (8-3 at #3 was the first to finish).
