Now I know what the "D" stands for in your name, Lee...it's "dinosaur"! Al Campanis got fired as Dodgers' GM almost 30 years ago for less racist stereotyping than this post contains. BTW, if you take your beer goggles off long enough to watch a Raider game in the next decade, you might find out the British "stiff" blocking for McFadden and whoever slings the seed for the Black&Silver, one Menelik Watson, is agile, mobile and hostile while being very dark in skin tone!

    No problem!

BTW, Massachusetts police are now investigating a second potential murder case against Hernandez. In this matter, two motorists were gunned down while stopped at a traffic light a few miles from a nightclub altercation that Hernandez was involved in. There's speculation that the latest victim's knowledge of this incident and Hernandez' involvement may have sparked the execution-style action Hernandez is now charged with.

Things just getting even worse for Hernandez...based on a tip from one of the accomplices in Lloyd's murder, police searched the TE's "crash pad" a couple of towns away from his mansion and discovered more evidence linking him to the shooting. His legal team is gonna have a hard time beating the rap on "circumstanial evidence" when the rats keep jumping ship.

Meanwhile, the NFL blotter list must be making Goodell cringe...almost 30 arrests, a few of them multiple episodes by the same players, since the Super Bowl. National Felon League would be a better name for the organization!

Camps are open and already a couple of key long-term injuries...Dennis Pitta (Ravens) dislocated his hip and Jeremy Maclin (Eagles) tore an ACL, both probably done for the year. Falcons, Cardinals, Seahawks beware... it's gonna be a bird-flu season!

Maybe this is "sassy" enough injury news from the camps to wake you dormant NFL fans from your summer slumbers...Tom Brady limped off the field during joint workouts with the Bucs today. One of his own linemen rolled into his left (surgically repaired) leg after a bullrush from a Bucs defender. Brady came up grabbing at the knee, tried to play a down but hobbled to the sideline noticeably favoring his bad knee. MRIs are scheduled.

According to NESN Brady's knee is ok-it was just strained. I still don't know what to think of Miami's new uniforms-I like the more realistic-looking dolphin (on the helmet) and the bright blue jerseys, but why did they make the hoop (that the dolphin is swimming through) smaller?

Yeah, he was fine in completing his first 11 passes for one TD and a 2-point conversion. It will be amazing if he keeps his hot hand in the regular season with an almost entirely new crew of receivers. They open vs the Bills who have the Jets' ex-DC running a pretty good set of defenders.

Bills' rookie Manuel continues to impress...I hope he wins the job!

Manuel is doing well, although yesterday he played a bunch of backups while the bills still had many of their starters in, so it's hard to compare.

Tebow had quite the amazing stat line. Though, I really like Mallett was high on him when he was drafted in '11.

Add Manuel to the injury bug list...had a "minor" procedure done on his knee after swelling developed overnight following Friday's game. Will miss the rest of the preseason.

Meanwhile, one really bad knee injury for Dolphins' TE Dustin Keller...torn ACL, MCL, PCL and dislocation of the knee. If there's significant nerve damage it's a career-ending possibility.

The Bronco injury was to DE Derrick Wolfe's neck and he was released from the hospital to fly back with the team. I guess he'll be evaluated back in Denver before being cleared to practice or play.

More QB injury woes...Jags name Gabbert starter but he won't play the rest of the preseason with a hairline fracture to his throwing-hand thumb; 'Skins down to Rex Grossman as RG3 continues his rehab and backup Cousins sprains his foot vs Steelers last night. Will they rush RG3 into action...initial plans included the possibility of waiting until after their Week 4 bye???

I did and I would have destroyed you if you were in my line of sight.

I wish I could have gone toe to toe with some 5'5 110# guy. The guys I had to take on were freaking monsters. It sucked. lol.

Im real interested in the Thursday game. I believe this will be a break out year for Torrey Smith. No Champ Bailey most likely helps his cause week 1, but Champ has slowed down as of late anyway.

That first game is gonna be more about who isn't there from the playoff matchup...Broncos losing Dumervil, Von Miller and Bailey while the Ravens have to plug holes for the departed Lewis, Reed and Boldin. Add in season-ending injuries on both sides (Pitta, Koppen). I'm sure I'm leaving a few out.

Should be a wild one in Mile High!

Also interesting is Dumervil is on the Ravens now and spent a full season going against Manning in practice.

So no talk about the Packers? I mean their O-line somehow got worse this offseason/preseason, but they got Lacy and Franklin. No one has even considered them a contender, which I think is ridiculous with Aaron Rodgers as your QB. The one problem I have is that they cut Vince Young... if Rodgers get injured they're screwed.

Bonehead penalty by Tampa Bay. Jets got FG position and their kicker comes through.

    Jets 18-17.

Well then you should be glad VY is gone. Overhyped and could never understand even the most basic of play books. Main reason he was let go again - just could not get it.

What a great win!!!!! Thought after the catch and run from Vincent TB had it in the bag. That hit on GSmith was sooooooo dumb.

I was able to watch most of the second half with a core group of Jets fans I hadn't seen in a year or so. After the TB FG with :37 seconds left there was zip hope in the room but I told all of them there was plenty of time. It was nice to see them again but even better to shove off with a little "ye of no faith" sermon. Pessimism wears green and white!

Lots of close games besides this one...Luck now has 8 game-winning drives in 17 starts; Cutler to Marshall late for the win; Rams comeback vs Cards for a game-winning FG; Pats do the same vs Bills...did I leave any out???

Nice Week 1 so far...still got 3 matchups to add some more zing!

Wow. Chip Kelly's offense looks legit.

This could result in a crap load of fantasy points for Vick given the amount of plays being run.

On to the Bills, Any real bills fan saw that last second loss coming, in fact we were expecting it.

    Eagles are killing it.

So much for this offense "not working " in the NFL lol.

Even lamichael james just tweeted that this is the exact same offense that he ran at oregon.

Should be 33-0 if it wasn't for that mistake in the beginning.

Eagles will have hiccups but if the offense settles into a sweet spot, it is going to be something else to watch.

    Vick will get hurt.
With all that starting experience, he still doesn't get it. Unlike Cam, or Kap, he will run into a 250 lbs linebacker, head on, and get lit.
There's "protecting the ball", and there's "protecting the field position". Two different things that a QB needs to remember.
    RG 111 doesn't get it.
    Luck get's it.
    Wilson get's it.
QB's can only take so many hits.
    Cutler is at his maximum.

Time for TP2 in primetime next week against the manning guy in Denver. Hoping run DMC can repeat his epic 2011 performance at mile high or else it might get ugly

    SoyIGood....
We were talking strategy on Thursday. Kap needed to exploit the flats, stay away from deep passes, roll out RIGHT a lot, hit the tight end, go for slants and screens, and run a lot for short yardage.
I hate Vernon, the WORST reciever in pro football. He won't adjust to the ball, he won't go in and catch it, and he often shortarms it. He did it all on Sunday.
Loudest stadium in football, and you call a play from the pressbox, tell it to the offensive coach at the sidelines, and then tell Kap? They can't shorten the playbook to 7 plays and number it? One thru 7, until they start moving the ball and the crowd quiets?
Kap was limited by more than his own shellshocked self. Must have had orders not to run, not to fire the ball low to his hook receivers.
Bonehead retaliation accounted for more than 5 lost first downs, or field positioning.
While KyleWilliams is a serviceable receiver, why not let the big play Cal guy drafted in the 6th round stretch the field so the TE has room to Z out?
Boldin should have just crushed the thighs of his DB, instead of trying to speed juke a quicker player. After two pure plowthru's, Sherman would have backed off.
No run blocking (whatsoever), no pass blocking (sieve like), you gotta roll the QB out, or pitch OUT to running backs.
BruceMiller was blind and should be retired. Nobody misses as many pass blocks as him or runs as slow on medium range passes. Remember, he played up and down (missed the LB in the GreenBay game), and doesn't knock anyone his size backwards.
Blame on scheme, Kaps freezing, and lack of line play, on both sides of the ball.
EricReid is soft, plays soft, has good positioning and understanding of the field, but is SOFT.

I didn't watch the game as I had a BAD feeling about it. 49ers in Seattle is like USC playing at Oregon St... often a disaster.

It just feels like the formula for beating the 49ers is to stifle Gore. After that the offense becomes too predictable. We got some decent receivers and Kap has the arm to spread things out. Should Harbaugh allow Kap to call plays ala Peyton Manning?

Partial plays, not the full gamut.
Kap is too raw still, can't read D from a quick peek.
Kap needs a set of 5 plays he can audible, and they need to be simple to communicate to his team. NO more. From there, he can adlib, have his receivers run to the open spot, but his blockers need instruction.
49'ers need to rid themselves of Vernon no effort, Mr.ShortArm, and no try on anything but an instride perfect pass.

I was shocked that the line for the Jacksonville game at Seattle this week came out with the line of only 19.5 points. Thought it would be around 26.

    Crisis time for the 49ers?

    Smacked by the Seahawks
    Vernon Davis injured
    Aldon Smith with issues
    Frank Gore starting off slow
    Spanked around by the Colts
    Passing game going nowhere

I'm getting a bit worried. :( It could be worse....

The Chiefs have a solid defense and their offense doesn't turn the ball over. Smith is just sitting pretty for the moment.

We'll see later today, 49'ers vs Rams.
Rams aren't afraid of 49'ers, that's for sure.
    Willis might play, at 85%.
    Alden out.
Justin a shadow of himself 2 years ago.
    No starting NoseTackle.
    Gore uphappy.
No left wideout who can create separation or continue patterns, or make a real effort.
    Slow right wideout.
    Indecision in Colin's mind.
Same defensive backfield that gave up 30+ points the past 9 out 11 games.
Did I mention no pass blocking, or run blocking?

I think the 9ers win this one, but the Rams pass defense is decent.

If Kapernick struggles again - I don't know....could be a serious red flag.

I really like the Chiefs defense a lot. They man up and cover 1 most of the game. Thats the way to lock down an NFL offense, but you have to have the talent to do it, and they do.

After holding Dallas to 1 TD at home, I like them against the giants.

Still trying to figure out if Vick will have a better fantasy day than Alex Smith. I think Vick can do some damage against Denver's D, but the Broncos pass rush is worrisome.

Vick looks running scared and slightly shaken. Good as he is, he's mortal, and a couple early hits will rattle his game.
Smith was the highest rated QB when he got the concussion. He only needs to manage a game with no turnovers, don't force anything, allow his great D to play the game and win it for him. Like TrentDilfer, he can have a good game without good stats, as long as he doesn't make mistakes.
Kap is incumbered with too much upstairs, don't get hurt, don't run, don't force the ball, don't turn it over, don't don't, and isn't free to play loose. Plus, he has one possession receiver, total. The other guys make no effort for passes that are not perfect, and nobody throws a perfect ball every single time. They gotta play that 6th round Cal receiver, who goes after the ball like BrandonLloyd did for the 49'ers.

Not sold on hurryup, althought Peyton makes it work pretty darn well.
Run option? Have NFL defenses already caught up?
