I dont think they have. I think the problem is injuries more than anything. NFL defenders just hit so hard.

Vick's biggest problem is Maclin got hurt. He has no one else past Desean to throw to. I still go with Vick over Smith in fantasy because Vick has that ability to explode and go for 400 yards and 3 TDs. The main thing is knowing when the QBs are going to deal with an oppressive defense. I should have seen that Chiefs game coming after they whooped up on Dallas and were not afraid to single cover Dez Bryant even in the red zone.

Fantasy football, Vic and RG111 for sure.
Alex is a solid QB. He might never give you the deep throws, the exciting highlight reel throws, but he is a very good game manager, and coupled with a stout D, he can take his team to the SuperBowl, and even win it, like TrentDifer did one year.
Either way, an offense needs to chew up clock to win. It needs to keep it's D off the field, by dominating the play clock, to wear out the opposing D, and to allow it's D to rest so it can play 100%.
Peyton is great at moving slowly and surely up the field thru short and intermediate passes.
The JeffGeorges in the world are dinosaurs.
Quick strike is highlight reel stuff, but a losing proposition in the long run.

49ers crush the Rams. Back in business.

    I'm afraid to say....false confidence.
49'ers look lost without more than one wideout. Gore had a great day, good blocking from the line, where was that during the previous two games?
Kap still lost. Afraid to throw, afraid to run/option.
D is still fragile, but Rams might barely win 3 games the whole season, with StevenJackson.
Sam is close to Kap in Kap's games 2 and 3. Scared, harried, chased, indecisive, afraid to make a mistake, afraid to win, so he will lose.
49'ers went 5 series 3 and out, not a good sign for even a .500 team.

I realize why the Rams suck and why I am so glad the Fins did not hire Jeff Fischer as coach:

    Brian Schottenheimer

Horrible Oc. Should not be in the NFL.

Seems to me, the only reason the Ram's suck is they lost StevenJackson.
Anytime you lose a 235 lbs bruiser who get's you 3 yards most carries, you suffer with any kind of replacement.
And if your replacement can't pass block, get's stuffed at the line of scrimmage, you really feel the lost of StevenJ.
Rams were tough when they had Steven or Faulk. Need a premier running back, not neccesarily an all pro, to open up the passing game.

Stephen Jackson is washed up. Their problems go beyond that, no receivers for Bradford to throw to.

The playcalling is terrible. They have a lot of speed at the WR position and don't stretch the field. Shott is the worst coach currently in the NFL.

Sam has no confidence in any of his recievers, or himself.
He just needs to throw the ball well, allow his recievers to play thru thetheir mistakes, and everything will be fine.
His running backs seem small, and block horridly. He needs more than 3.5 seconds to survey the field. 4.5 would be great.
Still they look no worse than the 49'ers did when 49'ers played Seattle and Indy.

No teams will want freeman. Guy had one good year then plagues the lockerroom. Who is going to want to give anything good for a backup of maybe a backup. Jags won't want him. Might be able to get a 24 pack of gatorade maybe. Ketchup packs for the lockerroom.

The Bucs are pi$$ poor on offense, regardless of who the QB is. Freeman might get another chance somewhere, but he's not much in demand.

Jags are worse. At least the Steelers score. 31 pts in 4 games is pitiful.

No one's trading for Freeman unless they are super desperate since, the trade would essentially be a 12 week loan as his contract is up.

In other news, Mike Pettine is our (Bills) savior. What a difference just a coordinator can make with nearly the same personnel, in fact, WORSE personnel as we are without our top 4 defensive backs.

The defense is really carrying us, the offense needs to step it up.

Falcons now 1-4. Pretty much all of the 'experts' had them predicted as Super Bowl champs, runners up, NFC finalists, whatever. This is why sports are awesome, anything can happen. Seattle team to beat in the NFC, sorry saints.

Denver Broncos' year. And the Colts had to let go of PM (good long term move and specially being prudent after the neck thingy). Andew Luck and RGIII, they'll need some more years. Giants seems to be lost in the mix. Patriots and Packers are always going to contend no matter how they start the season, with the resurgent 49ers, this should be an exciting one through to the finale. I'm always heartbroken with the Seahawks specially this couple years, seems to be doing great but it ends the same.

I haven't watched many colts games but, Trent Richardson is still at 3YPC... guess the Cleveland has no passing attack excuse is out the window.

Though I think this will be Denver's (Manning's) year, a healthy Gronk will definitely catapult the Pats right up there, to add to Brady's haul.

No kidding. How many years of 9-7, with Romo choking in the big games, must we ensure?

Jerry Jones must find another hobby... ruining America's Team is getting old.

Bright spot is that 8-8 or 7-9 will win division this year.

Anyone watching the Broncos/Colts game? At this rate, the Colts are going to run out of players before the game is finished.

Colts hold on 39-33. Maybe they found Denver's Achilles heel. They got a lot of pressure on Manning.

Chiefs are the last remaining undefeated team.

Tough to evaluate this game. Who knows how much the homecoming affected manning, no one can understand the emotions he was facing of coming back to the place he built. But from his performance it looks like it played a factor. If not for the 7 consecutive 3 and outs who knows how the game plays out. More important question is who are the colts? Beat Seattle, lose to chargers, beat Denver. Denver still best team in the league, chiefs playing not to lose and therefore will not win when it matters.

Colts also beat the 49ers. I think their running game is suspect and their defense is a bit flaky. If both of those areas improve they can definitely be a threat in the AFC.

Manning threw quite a few wobbly ducks out there last night, though that was probably due to the constant pressure.

Luck is probably my favorite player outside of any Bills. He's smart, plays without complaints and tough as nails. I saw him on mic'd up and he got lit up after a throw and taped the guy on the helmet and said "nice hit." Pretty much the "anti-brady."

RGIII finally getting back to the read-option which is what they need to succeed. His skill set just doesn't lend itself well to being a classic QB. He needs to be that run threat to open up his receivers as well as give Alfred Morris room to run like last year.

Cowboys become just the second team in NFL to lose when +4 or more in turnovers. What a choke...up six and kicking off to the Lions with 40 seconds and zero timeouts. Instead of protecting the sidelines, they allow Stafford to complete a 40-yard strike to get near the red zone and then do the Megatron connection (320+ yards receiving today on a bum knee...ridonculous!) to the goal line, where Stafford brilliantly decides to vault the line for the TD while faking the spike signal. What an epic ending!

Amazing job by Mr. Discount Double Check tonight...down to one regular in his receiving corps, Rodgers still manages to convert third-down plays time and again in a 44-point explosion vs hapless Vikes. If anyone else gets hurt, Aaron could have his wingman (Mr. Cheesehead from the commercial) suit up and he'd probably be good for a couple of first downs!

Chiefs 8-0, but one of the worst teams in the nfl. People are actually thinking alex smith is a viable starting QB. Only "decent" team they have played is Dallas. They have a great home field advantage, a good defense that relies on turning the ball over to produce and a great RB. Depending on their first round matchup they will likely lose. Do you guys think KC is good?

    Baltimore won one with Trent.
KC has a great D, and Alex knew he was a fit for that team.
Winning compounds itself, and it's confidence.
Now if Alex could win some time of possession battles, they'd be almost unbeatable with that D.
    He isn't settled yet.

I like Alex Smith...all he has done since '11 is win at a very high rate, taking SF to the playoffs and being very close to a Super Bowl appearance in Harbaugh's first year, then setting the table for Kaepernick the next year before losing the starter's spot to a concussion. He took his demotion well, never publicly complaining and now has KC on one of the most surprising turnarounds in league history. He will never dazzle us with fantasy numbers but he is very efficient, taking what the defense allows him. If KC pries Tony Gonzalez away from the ATL before the trade deadline, watch out!

Too many people favor or are enamored by the big strike offensive QB who tosses 50 yard strikes, and can score in 3 plays.
What wins is a QB who can control the clock, the time of possession, keeping his D off the field while wearing down the opposing D, can convert 3rd downs, and makes no turnovers while accurately throwing 12 yard passes and not fumbling.
While Peyton, Aaron, and Tom can indeed throw the 50 yard glory strikes, they are equally adept at controlling the clock with short passes and quick dump offs, sustaining drives, and scoring on the majority of their possessions.

Alex Smith will not win a super bowl. He just doesn't have the arm to make the big throws. Kc great defense, average offense outside of Charles. They won't make it to AFC championship imo.

Let's see how KC does with their 2 games in 3 weeks stint against division rival Denver and then we will really have an idea where they stand.

Don't think any short stretch of any season is any kind of indicator of SuperBowl capabilities.
I watched the 49'ers win their 5 SB's, and they had horrid stretches, losing to some BAD teams, but usually taking care of business and peaking around the last 3 games of the regular season.
Sometimes, you learn more from a bad lost than you learn from a close win.
And while AlexSmith is no gunner like Peyton/Aaron/Tom, remember, JoeMontana could barely throw the football 50 yards in the air, and he had OK numbers when all was added up.
Guys who could throw 90+ yards..... JaMarcusRussell, JohnElway, JayCutler, TerryBradshaw.
NOT DanMarino, not BrettFavre, not TroyAikman,

Defenses will key on Charles and force Smith to throw it effectively. Put pressure on him and he will not be as effective. When we (Oakland) played him he looked terrible due to the pressure from our d line. I'm not a buyer of his ability to lead this team to the promised land. Kcs best receiver Bowe has been invisible due to Smith and the dink and dunk offense. The defense can only do so much.
