Benneteau will be kicking himself that he didn't force Federer in a longer rally.

Benneteau wins! truely well deserved he came out firing and federer didnt show up till the end of that final set. Hopefully he can prepare well for Dubai but the 2013 season is looking like just a shadow of the 2012

Very surprised to see Benny get the win. Fed played like he was out partying too late last night. Not a good performance from him today at all.

    A deserved win for Benneteau!

Unfortunately, you can't win them all Fed. Tis nice when a nice guy beats one of the top 4.

You can't win matches if you don't put the first ball, Fed.

Brilliant. Don't like seeing Fed lose but love seeing the likes of Jules really rising to it and getting a win. Inspired stuff from the Frenchman, Fed off his game slightly. Delpo's to lose now.

Federer showed flashes of brilliance and flashes of ugliness. His 1st serve absolutely let him down today. Benneteau played well though, just crushing the ball at all angles.

Federer makes things really hard for himself. He didn't have to go for a curling topspin DTL backhand. He could have chipped it DTL

No it isn't. It means Benneteau won the mental battle. Fist-pumping is just Benneteau showing emotion, something his opponent never usually does. :p

Nadal had previously not played a match since June 28th 2012, and that was his first tournament back AND he made the final of Vina del Mar. Not comparable. :p

A poor service display by Federer for his standards, highlighted by the DF's on crucial times. Good stuff from Benny though.

Good stuff from Benneteau. Really not all that surprised with a result like this. Fed (and for that matter the rest of the top 4) often have results like this sprinkled through a year. If he wins 1 of the next 2 I'll be happy.

Yep, it would be nice. Not sure if he'll have as much success against Del Potro. I wouldn't mind either winning this now.
