And finishes up in three. Nice comeback!

Foginini needs to behave or the lawn mower will trim him down to size!

Aussie-French wars elsewhere...Mad Dog vs MarathonManMahut and Bernie vs SimpleSimon. Both Monday.

One up (Mad Dog) and one very down (Tomic). Msquare managed to rankle a nice "fan base" on the board with his postmatch tirade.

Zverev vs Kokkinakis in the Quali Final could be on the cards.

    USO Qualifying Round 2: Nishioka d. Kokkinakis 7-5 4-6 6-4.

Australian hopeful Thanasi Kokkinakis has failed to join his countrymen in the main draw, losing to a guy almost a foot shorter than him. I don't know what the chances would've been for a live broadcast of a FQR match between him and Zverev, but that prospect has gone up in smoke anyway.

Zverev is out too. So no possibility of that anyway.

Main draw matches look interesting for the Aussies.

    Kyrgios v The Colonel
    Tomic v Dustin Brown
    Ebden v Kamke
    Rusty v Berdych
    Marinko v Fed
    Groth v Ramos-Vinolas

Everyone except Mad Dog has a chance or better. Even though Rusty has been a bit well, rusty, lately he seems to find something for the US Open.

Edit: Kyrgios has just tweeted "Sorry again @GrigorDimitrov for today man, was fun while it lasted. Goodluck for next week ✌️" So maybe the injury to his left arm hasn't fully healed???

Berdych hasn't exactly been in amazing form himself either. Could be a chance for the great man!

I would say 2015 will be Hewitt's last year, then we'll transition to Tomic or whoever comes along from the youth

I can't rate Matosevic and Groth/Guccione are very good together in doubles, so keep them there.

Meant to say finals. He takes the doubles and hopefully will do the same in the singles.

My bad for letting this accomplishment slip under the radar...only the second young man (Javier Sanchez) to pull off the twin titles. Hope the young lefty continues his progress into ATP success!

Hi tom, Matt Reid lost to my boy Dennis Novikov today at the Costa Mesa Futures in three tough tiebreak sets. He has a big serve and there were no breaks of serve.

Probably a smart move from Kyrgios's camp. He's still playing through with his arm injury apparently.

Closing out the year with a 250 win would be pretty huge. Hope he goes far into the tourney

Very nice touch by Nick to shepherd Omar through this next phase of his career. That Aussie synergism is gonna propel these guys to even better results the next few years.

Hope Nick can get a good result in Kuala Lumpur...he'll be representing for his mom there.

Bad day at the office for all but Kokki, Matosevic and Groth. Nick goes down in 2 TBs to Marinko and Groth took out Ducky so we knew it wouldn't be a clean sweep but Tomic should have moved on, losing a 3rd set breaker 7-9 to Herbert.

Mixed bag @Sacramento Challenger...Bolt lost to Giron and Thompson was crushed by Smyczek while Millman and JP Smith advanced.

Not so good for Tomic in Tokyo, dropped by Raonic in straights.

Four of five thru to the second and final round of qualifying for Shanghai MS1000. Go Ducky, Kokki, Groth and Tomic! They can all make it as none face each other.

It was a good day for the Aussie lads in Shanghai. Hopefully at least two can get through today. Although I get the feeling Mad Dog is slowly losing the plot again.

Nick should be back in town later this week for a several week on court training block after 10 days rest and rehab on the left arm. I've heard he'll be training at the Australian Institute of Sport courts and hitting partners like Thanasi will drop in when available.

All three go out 1R in Shanghai...Tomic and Kokki were almost there.

Meanwhile in Tiburon Challenger, Millman served up double bagels to American Chase Buchanan, losing just 13 points. Things are clicking for him!

Shanghai main draw was a disappointment after such a good qualifying result for some of the Aussies.

Closer to home US Open boys winner 17yo Omar Jasika has made it to the final of an ITF Futures event for the first time. He plays American Jarmere Jenkins (currently #329) tomorrow in tropical Cairns.

Thankfully we're seeing more of a push for our Aussie juniors to play on clay and I think it will show in better results for us on the surface.

They've got some decent clay at our National Tennis Centre in Melbourne and fingers crossed we're going to have the 12 clay courts at our local centre redone next year (having Kyrgios training there helps!).

I hope you have better luck than the USTA has had with their recent emphasis on developing young players on the clay!

Meanwhile, on hard Mr. Millman is still looking strong...just handed Smyczek a breadstick and is on serve in the second!

I'm a jinx...he just dropped serve in the second. I won't even comment on Reid's progress vs Frantangelo for fear of jinxing him.
