I went to a local sporting goods store this morning to purchase some tennis balls. This local sporting goods store is one of those chain stores, and they were having a sidewalk clearance sale. During my checkout, I noticed outside there were barrels of tennis rackets, and one in particular caught my eye. It was orange and grey in color.

After I paying for the tennis balls, I proceeded to go to the barrels full of tennis rackets.

To my disbelief, they had an new, still with plastic handle cover, Head Ti Radical OS size 4-3/8 for $29.23!!

There were also some other rackets, Prince Equipe, Head Ti Heat, Wilson 6.1 classic at similar discounted prices. I wanted to get the Wilson 6.1 with the Ti Radical, but someone had beaten me to it. Damn!!!

Comes to show you, there are hidden treassures out there if your lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time.

Youre asking us if its a good deal right?

You bet your ass it is, 29.23 is a good deal for toilet paper let alone a tennis racquet, only imagine if you got the 6.1 !?!?!?!?!

No.......nothing was wrong with them from what I have inspected, no cracks, dings on frame or the bumper guards. They were in the back room collecting dust as they made room for newer rackets to sell in the store. I guess they needed to clear the backroom so they made a big side walk sale this morning.

I'll take some pics and post it.

Yeah, our MC Sports had a wall full of old Head racquets like the PC 600, Premier Tour, Pyramid Tour, PT 280/630, and Radical Tour Bumblebee they could not give away. Finally reduced the price to like $50 each, then had a 50% off clearance racquets to finally clear them out. Worked like a charm

So, where do you live, and what store was it? An excellent buy if i say so myself! I think the Ti. Rad OS was a very underrated frame, flexy enough to keep the ball in the courts, light enough to lend itself to ncie customization :)

I don't know, if you want, I'll let you take its virginity away first, then, lets say $40? I know its still pretty cheap, but hey, its $11 more than you payed to a buy it new. Also, what headsize (in sq. in) is it?

Are you sure they aren't fakes? A prestige classic 600 I thought was worth well over a 100.

So, yes, you got a great deal!

After leading my racquet up, it feels even better.

Oh yeah, sorry I forgot it was an oversize, thanks anyway though, but I hate playing with racquets more than 98 sq in. But it was a great deal to buy at $29 nonetheless, do they sell any cheap player frames in midplus or mid sizes?

Yea, they had a Head PT280 which sold for the same price as well, but too bad the clearance sale was over Sunday. I went back to see if they had anymore rackets from the clearance sale, and they said everything was sold. Damn.

I think I got a good deal today.

Is a brand new, Austrian Head LM Instinct for $65 a good deal?

I'll be interested to know if the bumperguard fits when you need to replace it. A guy brought me a Prince Rip to string and replace the bumperguard. The grommets/bumperguard for that racket wouldn't fit. I called Prince. Customer service didn't know why, so they connected me to one of their engineers. He said that big sporting goods companies often buy the copy rights from companies to produce their discontinued goods--in this case, rackets. So, when the RIP was discontinued, Dick's (in this case) bought the license to sell this racket (afterall, Prince wasn't going to market it any longer, so they sold the license to make copies). Dick's could then go to a manufacturer in China, design a racket that looks almost identical to the original, and market it. In this case, the newly designed racket was 113 sq in as opposed to 115 sq in for the original. Obviously, the grommets/bumperguard didn't fit. Dick's didn't even have to go through Prince USA to do this. He told me that nearly all racket companies will sell their copy right licenses to a discontinued racket, and sporting goods shops are more than willing to pick up rackets that have been popular. Your deal may be legit, or it may be one of these kinds of deals, where you picked up a racket that doesn't meet the specs of the original. Doesn't make it a bad racket though.
