I have a Head 3 racket bag. It has a 3 racket compartment roughly 4"/ 11cm wide and an open miscelaneous compartment roughly 6"/14 cm wide. Total width 10" / 25 cm. In the winter, I can put a coat and shoes in the bag. I carry one racket and a spare.

I want to replace it with a similar sized 3 racket bag. The 3 racket bags now seem to be only about 5"-6" in width total!!

After looking at many bags they seem to be pushing 6 or 10 racket bags. What percentage of players are buying bags for 6 or 10 rackets? Why? My only perspective is that usually there are one or two players on my 4.0 USTA team with these large bags.

If you know of 3 racket bags with a total width of 9-11", please let me know.

    i use a 6 racquet bag.

1 side is for 3 racquets and the other side for clothes, shoes, tennis balls, etc..

Why? To put something else than racquets. Because a racquet bag says you can put 6/10/12/15 racquets in it doesn't mean you have to. You can very well put 3 or 4 and use the rest for balls, shoes, bottles, wallet, accessories (overgrips, damps and the like), extra clothes in case you need to change, and the list goes on and on. And it takes a fair amount of space.

The naming conventions have changed since you bought your last bag. The one you describe in the OP would now be marketed as either a 6 or 9 racquet bag. They seem to take their name from total number of racquets you could put in the bag if you didn't carry anything else.

Prior to my current bag I had a bag wider than 10", it was too big.

About 9-11" total is what I want again, about a 6" and 4" split is ideal. The first 10-20 3 racket bags - an hour of searching - was a waste of time. The searches go by number of rackets so I find myself looking up the specs. Total width is given but do they give the sizes of compartment #1 & compartment #2? Is the 'racket' compartment fit to the racket somehow. I'll look for those specs.

I'm two hours+ into this search and have gotten nowhere.

I even considering if I want to paint the small white area on my current bag, the only shabby area, and keep using it ........

The Tecnifibre Team ATP 9-pack is 9.5'' wide.

The Wilson Team Black/Silver 12-pack is 11'' wide.

The Babolat Aero Line Red 6-pack is exactly 10'' wide.
