Well...my 4.3's are heading back to Nike. Lacing system failed WAY before the soles wore out.

Hope they will do something about it. Really disappointed.

I spoke to Nike. Mine are going back to them. I really like the fit of this shoe and mine are in really good shape because I've had some soreness in my right knee and haven't played much in a while. Hopefully they do something or it is back to Adidas.

What a terrible quality for $100+ shoes.
Lacing system design/materials flaw is still not addressed over like 10 colorways. And now I hear reports about outsole swollen up... Rubbish

I know they calculated that it's cheaper for them to provide warranty replacement for a couple thousand pairs, than to update the design. But they will surely lose some customers to competitors who offer premium quality at this price range.

Yeah, I had the lacing break the second time on the same pair today and then I had to tighten up so much, that I couldn't feel my toes on the right foot...
Had to win in the TB after serving horrendously and play so and so overall...

I'll open a new pair tomorrow.

Lol I'm replying to myself, but after putting on a new pair, I started thinking that loop laces start breaking when the shoes are giving in too much: i.e. when they don't provide as much support anymore (and we try to tighten the shoe laces).

After all CBs 4.3 like the Vapors are highly breathable shoes not having hard parts like the Barricades (that feel a tad clunky).

CBs 4.3 and Vapor 9s give you a feeling that you can move faster in them then in Barricades, but at a cost in durability (not the soles for CB's but the support and as a consequence laces)....

I had the lacing break for three times since january. I finally returned the third pair. Bad quality.

Yeah, but since by that time they might become flimsy anyhow(lack support and as a result I may start feeling my Achilles), I just start a new pair.

Even so, they last way longer for me then the vapors, including on clay.

I may give Barricades 8 a try next time, although I still got a brand new pair of V, that I plan to try again on clay in a little while (they don't feel as clunky as on hard courts and they might provide more support, since slide - unintentionally)

Send them to Nike and they will give you $130 credit. This isn't anything but a sorry design.

I applaud them for handling mine the way they did!

i have a rotary hole punch used to make holes in leather belts and shoes. it made easy work of the dragon x upper material. cost me like $10 from Michael's Arts & Crafts. i had it already since i use it to punch holes in bumper guards.

you could also take a sharp pick like one in a swiss army knife or some sharp pointy scissors and punch a hole in the upper where you want an eyelet located.

Why do you go by colorways? I'm pretty sure that any brand won't change the design of the same model in a different colorway.

You'd be surprised to notice that the fit of the AMC slightly changed ever since their release throughout colourways. It's a bit tighter, especially in the heel. It's still a large shoe, but the fit has slightly changed IMO.

You're misunderstanding his point. What he's saying is that in an exceptional circumstance, where one particular design flaw has quartered a shoes lifespan, the maker should introduce a fix. The problem is no well into its third year. In the short term such a mod would cost them money, but it may keep existing Nike users with the brand. Seemingly Nike's research has found the first option to be the most profitable as not enough people will jump ship over this issue. Unfortunate as it makes an otherwise good tennis shoe no match for the Barricade.

Can you take them to a Niketown store, or do you have to mail them to the Nike warranty address?

Two of the lace loops broke through on my right shoe, as well as the laces cutting far into the top most loops on my left shoe. I may have to go from a 12 to 11.5 so I don't lace so tight, which is strange as I have worn 12s since the 1.3s.

To me the problem is exacerbating after they give in and don't provide as much support as when they were new (usually after a month or two)....

But I haven't gone half a size down (yet).

Over the entire run 4.3s I usually broke at least one or two lacing loops per pair of shoes. I probably went through 5 pairs of them, but finally got fed up when the air overinflated randomly about 3 weeks into the life of my atomic teal pair. I returned them to nike and used the product voucher on vapor 9 tours. It'll take a catastrophic failure in the new model to make me switch back... the outsoles on vapors last me as long as the CBs did.
