    The record continues

Nadal gets no clay specialists until SF if Monfils makes it that far, and calling Monfils a clay court specialist is a joke to begin with.

Federer comes in and gets Almagro and Ferrer back to back, the only players after Nadal who know how to play ball on clay.

Anyone still not convinced that rafa is either the luckiest man in history or the draws are rigged? He's on a 1-year streak with cake draws, its ridiculous. Don't tell me its chance, chance doesn't repeat itself over and over and over and over... something is up, and something tells me there is some ticket-sale-boosting strategies in effect.

Couple of years ago Fed got his share of cakewalk draws. So I found funny that fed fans are complaining about cakewalk draws.
The one who always seem to get the toughest draws is Djokovic and we djokotards are not complaining.

Funny thing how Nadal fans always seemed to complain about Nadal getting Murray in his half all the time.

Every draw for Nadal on clay is a weak one, since he's practically unbeatable on it anyways.

For the King yes, but for Djokovic (2007-2010) not.

Nadals draw on clay is irrelevant. He could play Federer 6 times in a row and he would still win every tournament.

Nads could have Ferrer, Soderling, Almagro, Gulbis, Federer and make it look like a cake draw.

Nadal would slaughter both Almagro and Ferrer like he does everytime he plays either on clay. What is your point exactly.

His point is that as a Fed fan he is afraid of Almagro and Ferrer on clay.

if Almagro and Ferrer are the only clay specialists then doesn't pretty much everyone have a cake draw

I see you reached sexual climax along with the arrival of clay.

Almagro actually played well against Nadal last year on clay, he won the first set 6-4 and was a break point up at 1-1 in the second before losing, he also played well against Nadal at the French Open, even though he lost in straight sets it was 7-6 7-6 6-4. Ferrer always gives his best shot against Nadal and is a tough competitor for him on every surface. Didn't he take a set off Nadal in one of the encounters on clay back in 2008, arguably when Nadal was at his clay best?

The fact is Almagro and Ferrer both have ZERO chances of beating Nadal on clay. For them winning one set it a heroic feat worth celebrating and they are more likely to lose 6-1, 6-1 than to win a set. Talking about Nadal being lucky to avoid such players is ridiculous. In fact talking about Nadal being lucky to avoid any current player on clay is ridiculous.

Soderling beat Nadal at the French yet Almagro and Ferrer have ZERO chances? Sorry i didn't know Nadal was omnipotent on clay

Federer has zero chance of ever beating Nadal at the French Open so of course Ferrer and Almagro who are much easier opponents have none as well. Soderling was a one time fluke, like Doohan beating Becker at Wimbledon once.

There is no such thing as cake draws. Calling 6-7 competitors cake is an insult to the sport.

I like this draw for Federer...if he does play Ferrer and Almagro and whoever that is great on clay...and win it would make him seem more ready for the clay. For Federer what important is to the set up of feeling good towards RG. If Rafa supposedly has cakewalk draws...it could help fins some easier feel beforehand but it could undue him when he plays a strong guy at RG.

Then again....whoever you give Rafa on clay...he would eat him up 95 percent of the time....So rather let talk about this at Wimbledon, and the Summer Hard Courts.

Cakewalk draws on clay won't mean anything to the king of clay!

Fed got his cake draws as the #1 player in the world. Nadal is now #1 so he is getting his cake draws.

That's your privilege by being the top ranked player in the world. :)

I am really shocked Nadal doesn't play Lopez in the third round this tournament, I guess more than 3 or 4 tournaments in a row and it starts to become obvious.

I am sure they will rekindle the rivalry at Roland Garros probably a big quarterfinal or semifinal matchup is in the works.

Nadal's draw would only not be a cakewalk on clay if he was facing the following, as well as a few others, (with the equipment/rules/clay at their peak)

    Borg
    Laver
    Rosewall
    Guga
    Cochet

    anyone else?

And notice not one of them is still playing

Almagro and Ferrer? Seriously?? Having them in Nadal's draw would cause the haters to go 'All-Spanish half, NID', 'Nadal buttboys' etc etc. Don't make me remind you of his supremacy over fellow-Spaniards.

On clay, there's no such thing as a hard draw for Nadal. He's proved this countless times.

Nadal would steamroll through Borg, Chang, Rosewall, Laver, Federer and Agassi in straight sets on clay.

What is the ticket boosting strategy with Federer facing Magro and Ferrer early ? Do you mean they want Federer out quickly? They want Nadal to win the final ?
I thought Federer vs Rafa was the "dream final".

Nadal needs to face himself on clay for it to be a fair draw.

The only tough draw I can think of for Nadal today would be if he had to face almagro,ferrer,soderling/delpo,federer,djokovic all in a row and that would only be because he would run like crazy with all these solid baseliners and would wind up tired in the latter stages if he couldn't seal the deal quickly enough.

But with the current seeding, Nadal can get only one or two of the above so it isn't normally a problem for him.

Rafa has maybe 4-5 players that can give him a challenge on clay and that number gets lower if we are talking clay over five sets.

What is the hard draw for a guy that lost 6 times in the last 6 years on clay ?

Stop watching at the draws with the eyes of a ******* who wants to see Nadal lose more than anyone else, and you will see that his draws are not easier than other players' draws. Sometimes you are lucky (does Cincinnati 2010 ring a bell??), sometimes you are not. Same for every player.

Draws aside, there are simply no truely capable and natural clay courters around next to Nadal, Djokovic and Federer. And the last two of them consider clay a weaker surface.

Ferrer and Almagro feast on the clay-clownishness of the rest of the field.

What would a nightmare draw for Nadal look like, several rounds of pong? A 100 ft high net? Oh no wait, I guess he'd just moonball over it :/

I think most of you guys missed the OP's point. Of course the draw does not matter for Nadal on clay, especially now when Djokovic is #2 and guaranteed to be in other half of the draw, but the OP is actually complaining about Federer's hard draws on clay. According to OP old Federer will have a hard time against Almagro, Ferrer, Verdasco, ... and other clay specialists and should be afraid of them. He longs for those old days when Federer had cakewalk draws on each and every tournament. Hence the complaints.

Shoulda woulda coulda. Your subconscious did not allow you to list Sod, cuz well it's not true that Nadal would steamroll through him since he did not do it in 2009. Those are the facts. Can't deny them.

I will never understand you guys. Rafa and Fed are 2 of the best players in history, just about any draw until deep in the tournament is going to be a "cakewalk" I am saying this not as a fan of Fed, or Nadal, but as a fan of Tennis.

Already beat you to it lol

    Or Canadian against:

    Federer/Lendl R1
    Chang/Laver R2
    Rosewall/Borg R3

And even then, he'd have to keep his eyes closed. I still would pick Nadal, actually.
