    Hi,
I just received 3 rolls of strings and some individual packaged Head strings from a friend (after cleaning up the garage). These strings are about 8 years old. They look fine and strong just like new strings. Are they still usable? Should I use them? Will it break easy after put it on the racket? Any help is greatly appreciated.

syn. gut has a shelf life of 3 years. an 8 year old string IMO will feel quite dead. but since you got it free its well worth a try.

Try them out, and you will know.
The only thing is that they were in the garage, and if the garage is not kept at normal temperatures, and humidity, that may have effected them rather than being 8 years old.

You could send it to GAMMA for Irradiation process to make it strong again.

Since it's not something sensitive like natural gut, I think you'll be fine.

I have a real of Forten Nylon bought from TW in 1999.

Just stung a racket and it works just as new.
