I sing the BLUES in the hull of a ship
beneath the sting of a slavemaster's whip
I sing the BLUES on a ship anchored to dock
my family being sold on a slave block
I sing the BLUES being torn from my first born
and hung my head and cried
when my wife took his life
    and then committed suicide
I sing the BLUES on a slavemaster's plantation
helpin him build his free nation
I sing the BLUES in the cotton field
hustlin to make the daily yield
I sing the BLUES when he forced my woman to bed
lawd KNOWS how I wish he was dead
I sing the BLUES on the run..

I have 3 madraqs that I'll never ever part with... They feel so soft, so cushioned, really great, great raq's. Eager to see the Virginia Blues!

The Dunlop Blue Max was my racquet of choice for a couple of years in the 80s.

A nice, flexible frame - I preferred it to the stiffer Black Max.
I'm referring to the one with the nylon 'yoke' (throatpiece).

"MY Baby ran off with the bus-driver,
you know that don't seem right..

He used to give her rides in the daytime,
Now she give him rides at night" (muddy waters)

nothing is as authentic as the blues,
it taps into the history of slavery,
    the pain
the power needed to endure it
evolved from gospel music played at night by slaves

Sorry to dredge up an old thread but when I happened across it I couldn't help myself. "The Blues" both the musical genre and old tennis racquets are among my favorites.

Oh, I almost forgot about Blues poetry:

    "Somebody help me.
    Lord, I'm in misery.
    Somebody's gotta help me.
    Lord, I'm in misery.
    Yes, I am.
I had enough of the blues,
But the blues ain't had enough of me"
