I'm a 3.0 working my way toward a higher skill level. I had a crappy spring season with a rebuilding team, and as a result, I was left behind when the ratings were adjusted. Now the good news: I couldn't afford a club membership this year, so I had nowhere to play. One of the local clubs will let non-members play (indoor clay!) with a $25 monthy access fee, but only if you find a league slot that cannot be filled by a member. One of the most in-demand players in a 7.0 mixed league is a solid 3.0 if you have good 4.0 players. Guess what? Not many capable 3.0 men left (I define capable as being able to compete in a 7.0 mixed league with a 4.0 or a 3.5 partner). I already have a slot to play.

The rating adjustment screwed up things on so many levels. I guess I'll try to enjoy being a rare commodity.
