just back from rogers qualifying here in toronto.... what a long day, and i got there late, left early. still long, and fantastic.

anyhow, names i recognize from qualifying (last time in toronto, 2 years ago, i only knew the israeli who made the finals in 2000 and a few canadians).

    sanguinetti (italy)
    bogmolov (usa)
    evans (usa)
    seppi (italy)
    arthurs (aus)
    muller (lux)
    kim (usa)
    kendrick USA
    spadea usa
parmar (uk - saw him last time in qualifying)
    a few canadians

anyhow, amazing tennis... really enjoyed troicki vs. bastl (nice injury time out down match point by troicki, although i didn't see injury so could be very legit), mahut vs. nunez was good too (left before it was over)... i can't believe how good some of those "qualifiers" are.\

best part is the practice courts (and tomorrow is completely free for those interested)

nadal was on practice court at 11:30 AM when i arrived, and played till 12:15......

then federer came out at 3 pm.... nadal out again at 4 pm.... and when i left at 5:20 pm, they were both out there going strong.... so if you like fed or nadal, that's 2 1/2 hours of each....... nadal sessions were very crowded, fed was a mad house (funny, some guy yelled "can't you hit a winner" during warm-up. fed laughed).

federer is amazing for the effortlessness and very low net clearance on everything..... i didn't think nadal was too impressive in moderate rallying (could see the 2HB is really key). anyhow, when he started practice points (one session with johanson i believe), then the massive topspin came.

for those who don't know, these sessions are up really close... and very little crowd for leyton hewitt or carlos moya up close (moya hits rockets). how did federer take leyton 6-0 6-0 in last two sets of USO? hewitt looks amazing up close (shows you how good they are).... nalbandian was around, and alot of guys i didn't recognize.

.. i think gonzalez from chile was hitting for awhile. does he have lefty bazooka forehand?

they were giving out those red wax cheeses (starts with a B) and yogurt granola bars on way out. but they were giving them out inside the exit, so i think you could get them a bunch of times. not sure about 12 pieces of cheese for lunch and dinner, but it was free.

wow, those drink concession gouge you (food strangely isn't that bad). buy a gatorade and fill up the empty in the washroom.

fire away with any questions... unfortunately i know very few results.

o.k.. maybe that wasn't gonzalez... now i'm not sure if the guy was RH or LH. .... classic modern rock star hair and huge forehand (but like i said, can't remember if LH or RH. he had racquet in LH alot during stoppages, but can't actually remember which he hit with)
