5 really close first sets in FSU vs GT. I thought this one would be a battle. Hope I can catch the end of it later.

Clemson Tennis - Just curious what your thoughts on Notre Dame joining the ACC next year and Louisville joining the year after?

i know you didn't ask for mine, but i'll chime in too

added depth that will help all teams in the rankings (well, if louisville rebounds a bit from a weak season this yr and starts to be good again)

at the same time, hope the expansion doesn't cause any good existing rivalries to not happen annually, and hope still enough time in schedule to allow for scheduling of quality out-of-conf opponents

At this point, they are just two more teams to beat us. But with the history between The U and The Catholics, I would enjoy beating them. Maybe in 2018.

I don't think there will be scheduling problems, because ACC teams used to have Maryland on the schedule, so the first addition will just replace them. That means there is only one added match compared to 2012, two compared to 2013.

Louisville and Notre Dame will add two solid teams to the conference. Scheduling wise it will add a northern trip, I assume Louisville and Notre Dame will be travel partners.

mikej and everybody else thanks for commenting. I wasn't thinking when I just posted that for Clemson Tennis.

Louisville/Notre Dame already have a pretty good rivalry beween them, so I think that will add a little element.

Good play from Hemmeler. He routinely beat a good player in CGM. Hemmeler might be the best lower court player in the nation.

Strange question I know, but every pic I have seen of Hemmeler always makes me think he has a physical defect in his shoulders. One shoulder (can't remember which side) looks very small and undeveloped. Even to the point where I wonder how he can play tennis. Do you know anything about him? Always wondering every time I hear his name.

haha, i haven't made this observation before, no idea

saw this pic which seems in line with what you said - most others seem to look relatively normal - probably just some tennis player asymmetry, if anything - doesn't seem to affect him, that's for sure, playing like a boss right now

That may have been the pic that got me wondering, seems like I saw something before that as well. But you're probably right, he is playing really well now. Really looking forward to the Duke-UVA final. Sorry Clemson_Tiger.

And here I was getting ready to post about how much I liked the scoreboard setup on the ACC site. At least it was up to date. College tennis can't find competent people to push a scoreboard button.

VT in good shape to take down wake

Koontz is more fit and will win in third

Really close match here. Contini should definitely win the 3rd vs Hopkins. Monteiro/Lee a battle as I expected.

Koontz might be fitter but looks like Prabaker is better, Wake proving to be pretty clutch......I'm take Virginia 4-0 and big upset Wake 4-3 over Duke

I just don't see Duke getting beat by WF. You never know but I really want to see another UVA-Duke match up. UVA should win but if everything falls into place for Duke, it could be very interesting.

Virginia defeats Clemson, 4-0. As was the case in the regular season, the match was closer than he score indicates.

Get real, this is college tennis not march madness, top teams don't lose to awful teams

Wake has about a 2% chance of putting a point on the board - 0% chance of ever winning if these teams played 17000 times

Also I don't know about the use of the term awful. Awful teams #1 doubles took it to 9-7. Ask the Duke players and they would not define Wake as awful except for Chris Mengel because he should win every match 6-0 6-0.

How about Danny K bringing the goods today?

Awful team making a good match of this. If Redlicki dosent close the set it could get interesting.

Haha yeah way closer than is necessary - don't know what hemmeler is doing out there not joining the other two easy wins - probably lost chances at winning tournie today by stayin out there all afternoon while UVA rests

Jon Ho bags taking a set off Hemmeler is as surprising as Rosol beating Nadal.

They're awful - this match doesn't change my opinion, just convinces me duke is playing way worse than I thought right now (well, middle of the lineup, and for some reason hemmeler today unlike every other match) - I wouldn't support a top 30 NCAAs seed for them if they lost this

But yes duke players would follow Ramsey's example and use a more respectful term - they also haven't been drinking today, so aren't joining me in the truth serum club haha

    What's up with hemmeler?

    Mental collapse or hurt?

Wow though - 4-3 wake looks pretty good right now - genius call or embarrassing effort by duke? Little of both I guess

If it comes down to 4, there's no way Mengel outfights Lee.

Remember Wake was in position to beat Tennessee earlier this season. But duke is better than UT I think.

Does Duke think they are playing Illinois right now? Or Cal?

Seriously, I saw Hemmeler play in Charlottesville and the guy looked unbeatable. But then he lost a key match at about #6 in the lineup that cost them the Illinois match, and now this. If there is no illness or injury, then this is just inexplicable.

    Agreed

I don't know how Saba or hemmeler or these two on court right now can look Cunha in the face after this effort in what looks to be his last ACC match

Well rested after an easy match yesterday, trounced this team last time, and wake is coming off an afternoon match they had to spend some energy on yesterday

Unreal, tennis77777 would have bankrupted me if he'd offered some kind of online betting forum, I'd have bet every last cent I could find

Redlicki broke at 5-5 in the third, then served for it at 6-5. Got broken, then got overruled at least twice in the tiebreaker after earlier overrules put him in the penalty zone. Last overrule was a game penalty, but it would have been 6-0 in the tiebreaker with just a point penalty.

Interesting that a certain crazy tennis dad / masseur impostor used to claim that his kid got cheated on line calls in a match that I believe was against this same player. Cannot check the posts, because that forum is gone now.
