Wake subbed Jarmere Jenkins in for Ho. At least that's what it looked like - Ho just swung from the heels on every single forehand for two sets and hardly missed any. Didn't really think Hemmeler played that badly.

#7 FSU Seminoles upset #3 UVA to play #4 Miami in the women's title game. Let's go Canes!

Apparently in a junior match last year, he started to make out calls with his middle finger late in the match.

I think he has put himself in contention for worst sport in ACC award this year. But there are a lot of candidates. Stay tuned.

Couldn't care less about the ones bad sportsmanship. It's rampant in college tennis enough as it is. The ones with good sportsmanship need more recognition!

In fact I'll go ahead and do the good sports list now:

In no particular order, the most classy, fair and best sports in the ACC(keep in mind my rather small sample size)

    Danny Kreyman
    Juan Spir
    Alex Domijan
    William Albanese
    Billy Grokenberger

    Team overall: Miami,Virginia,Georgia Tech

    Coaches: Rincon,McCuen,Thorne,Thompson

wow... Haven't seen a team show that much heart in a while. To be honest i really wasn't surprised with the outcome.
Daniel Kreyman (the class act) is easily more talented than Saba. It was a routine win at #2 singles. In my opinion Saba is over ranked.
Amogh Prabhakar at 3 singles showed so much fight, especially being down 6-5 in the third set. Thats a pretty good win.
Adam Lee took care of business. Really shut Mengel and his loud mouth up today.
Jon Ho aka Jarmere showed his real talent today and had Hemmeler running all around the court.
Anthony Delcore and David Hopkins didn't play their greatest tennis.
Great come back from the Deacs, Coach Bresky must be doing something right. This team is definitely underrated.

Wow! Wake Forest won four matches just by playing up to their talent level, while they lost two matches by not playing their best. Duke had little or nothing to do with it! Why, if Hopkins and Delcore had merely played up to their ability, Wake would have swept all six singles matches -- very impressive!

Now that Wake has found their talent level, they should be looking forward to a rematch with Duke in the NCAAs.

Yeah, just think if they play a little bit above their heads tomorrow, they may get one point off UVa ;)

Wake should have beat Tennessee earlier in the year if not for a few appalling antics by the Tennessee coaching staff that shook up the Freshman Ho in his first pressure spot of his career.

Remember matchups Wake fan. Just cause Kreyman win today does not mean he is more talented than Saba. Kreyman certainly has talent though and is good at moving into net. Also had bad days like when he lost a set to a Winthrop player.

Lee shut up Mengel's loud mouth? Are you are he just wasn't drowned out by Lee's?

Interesting comment about that Tennessee match. Was not suprised to see the match played at Tennesse, even less suprised when I saw who Ho's opponent was during said match. Bet if Wake beat them UT would not schedule them next year. Again will not be suprised if they do play again next year, it will be at UT again.

Yeah good win by WF - only one I feel bad for is hemmeler who let his team down after being a fantastic player and in my biased view a very classy competitor all year

Saba, Mengel, and redlicki are definitely all in your face type of competitors - and if that's how they want to act they should try not to suck like they did today and rather back it up a little bit with their racquets

Redlicki has been broken in really crucial games serving for set and/or match vs both cal and wake - he may have beaten UVA's freshman at the zoo, but no question who's the more clutch player and nicer guy - duke fan but I tell it like it is, no apologies

Won't hear me complain if duke is seeded anywhere top 48 - they're not at all in my top 15 after today - losing to dangerous cal and Illinois teams is one thing - today with dubs pt and two easy singles matches in hand vs a more tired team was a whole nother level of epic underperforming ridiculousness

See you folks in NCAAs - I would like to see wake in Duke's region for a third matchup this season

I hope not. I don't like conference matchups in the regionals, especially if its a 3rd match. . Sometimes it's unavoidable I know. I'd prefer to see South Carolina go to Duke and Wake head to Vanderbilt.

I wouldn't mind seeing another Duke-WF match up myself. Would be interesting to see how Duke responds if they met again.

The women already left for UNC because both teams have flights. Men may go to Duke, but are waiting a little longer to decide.

Posted this at saber after being there yesterday, for those who are interested:

On doubles - Wake's #1s played Cunha/Hemmeler very tough yesterday, so
not too surprised by this. The other two were odd - Duke beat Wake
handily at 2, and Wake was up handily at 3, so go figure.

Don't mean this as sour grapes, but Wake did seem to have several guys
really in the zone yesterday. And based on doubles today, it may just
be that they are peaking at the right time. Ho in particular just ran
roughshod over Hemmeler at 5. The guy at 4 seemed to luck out a
little, as Mengel just didn't seem to have much confidence and even
then missed a sitter volley on set point for Duke in the first.
Finally, the guy at 3 was relentless and steady which was effective
against Redlicki, but I doubt it will bother Frank so much. Hopkins
is a great ball striker when it is in his zone, but was overmatched in
    long rallies.

I'd be surprised if they can really put a scare in today, but tennis
    is a funny game.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. The Deacs scared us two years ago in the second round of the NCAAs. For about an hour there looked like a real possibility that we would lose the match after Drew Courtney re-injured his foot.

Sure anything can happen, but it would still shock me if WF won. UVA is supposed to take it all in May.

    They're the only undefeated team

What evidence are those with eyes looking at? Besides the old 'they haven't won before, so why now' argument

I'll tell you why now - because USC no longer has mr automatic Stevie j to put them up 2-0 every match

Pretty funny when a Cal fan talks trash about Virginia. It might be more understandable from a USC fan.

Virginia wins, 4-1. Jenkins, Domijan, Frank and Uriguen with the victories. Seventh straight ACC title for the Cavaliers, 9th in 10 years.

Wish there was a change of scenery on the horizon, but unless someone leaves early the Hoos look awfully stacked again next year - losing 2 of their 7 regulars, I think, with at least a couple of studs coming in.

Kwaitkowski is the only recruit that has been mentioned as thinking about going pro, but that was before he committed. From the quotes in the article on his commitment, his decision was between Virginia or playing pro, and he chose Virginia.

UCLA's class is just as good, though.

Saw most of UCLAs recruits played in ISC and the Easter Bowl, but didn't see Thai or Daigle in the draws. Are they pretty much playing only ITF's?

Realistically, I think only one of the three freshman for UVa coming in will be a very consistent starter but I probably will be wrong

Brymer has ridiculously good footwork. He and McDonald could start right away for UCLA. But who would they replace since they lose none of their top 6?

But they do lose Jenkins. Frank and Domijan will have issue stepping up. #3 could be less solid for the Cavs. Thai-Son could be 5 for the Cavs next year. Cornitelli could make a push for top 6. Daigle not likely to be in line-up immediately. There will be quite the battle toward the bottom of the UVA line-up next year. Richmond, Kwiatkowski, Cornitelli, the Shane's, Styslinger will all be very close.

i think that was a typo - either was meant to be "issues" or "no issue"

given clemson's knowledge of the game, i assumed the latter when i read it earlier
