Agreed re the Wimbledon 7s, on my fourth pair. I think the White w/blue pictured is the Wimbledon 8.0. The 8s have a reverse of the black with red and white, white is the predominant color with a splash of red and a black sole and tongue. They look good but if they tongue were white they'd look great.

The 8.0 will be redesigned in summer 2014, per adidas. Not sure if that is a total redesign or a minor facelift like the 6.0s got.

I would guess a minor facelift judging from past models as major rehash would not make economic sense for Adidas when the shoes would be 12 months into its maturity.

No doubt a darker colourway for USO, nearer the time.

Is that really a heel strap or it's just for the looks?

Niiiice, I always wanted bullet-proof shoes.

These things will be a nightmare for clay-court players with all that mesh.

I would never have previously bought barricades as they've always been so ugly.
I'd be happy to buy these 8's. They look so much better than the previous over-designed models.

Shouldn't these be going up for pre-sale by now?

Understood, Brittany, but most new product seems to go on pre-sale a week or so earlier.

I think Michelle mentioned pre-sale about one week earlier, though she didn't have the exact release dates. I'll wait for both men and women reviews personally. At leas the video ones.

Sometimes the shoes have a pre-sale, some don't. The 6/21 date was going to be the pre-sale date but it looks like we will be getting them in on time so you don't have to wait!

Johnny, I thought you'd typo'd on the previous page but now just wanted to make clear that the upcoming ones are the 8s. The current ones are the 7s.

ProStringing- great pics, thanks for posting. Murray wears the same size as me. The shoes look really nice and the drag guard reaches far along the upper which is a big plus over other brands.

    RE: PROSTRINGING's pic

    Good pics dude.

Toe durability might be an issue, they look very flimsy judging by the photos.

So what's the fit is like? I wear a 9.5 in B5 and needed to wear a 10 in B7. What size should I wear for the B8?

A 9.5 size b7 fits but gave me a bruised toe.

The fit of the Barricade 7 and 8 are very similar. We recommend getting a size 10.

    Two questions TW/Brittany:

    1. Is the the upper drag guard and toe protector seamless as shown in your review pics of the black one, or is it stitched as in your pics of the white ones?

    2. On the review you give Ventilation a 4.5 but say it is a downside, while comfort is given a a plus but gets a 3.3. Not a big deal, but could you please clarify?

If the upper is seamless (I always rip seams in uppers) I'll certainly be getting a pair from you guys once 12 is in stock. Thanks in advance.

    NJ1,

    1) It is stiched on like the white ones. The black color way image was a pre- production sample.

    2) Oops, that was a mistake. It is now fixed. Our playtesters found this shoe to be very well ventilated.

Interesting to note that Andy's shoes have the grass court soles (with grass stains) yet they are stained red from red clay on the inside?!?!

These look great. I am curious to see what colors they will come up with next, since the first pair is pretty bland.

    The black look pretty solid.

I don't quite understand the comment on the big toe jamming?

Is that a problem due to narrow feet or to the shoe being on the short side for its given size.

Is it due to the limited cushioning or is the midsole cushion causing the sock to slip and the foot to move?

I had my little toe getting jammed on the Barricade 5 but that was a clear indication I should have bought a half size bigger.

Mine came in today. "Mesh" front isn't really mesh at all, but more or less a stiff rubber punched to look like it's mesh. Shoes definitely look better in person though than they do in the online pics.

I'll update in the next week or so once I get some court time in them.

I'm thinking these new versions are going to suck. Based on the TW review, they've gone down in stability and arch support.

Go back and look at the numbers in the text of the review, not the video. Compare it with the previous model and you'll see they dropped.

that might be more of reflection of other manufacturers catching up. its used to be nike vs adidas, but guys like asics and new balance etc have made big steps in their shoes

I have about 12 or so hours in them, and personally I find them to be an upgrade from the 7s, which I always found a bit clunky.

Can't comment on the durability yet, but I can tell you they're much more comfortable than the 7s because the tongue area/upper is much softer. Downside of that is what the Tennis Warehouse testers complained about; your foot tends to slide forward in the toe box. I wear two pairs of socks anyway, so that didn't tick me off, but I can see how it would bother some people.

Break in has been simple enough. I started playing matches in them out of the gate, and haven't had any serious blister issues; slight blister on the left achilles, but far less than past Barricade models. Court traction seems to be much better as well with the change in sole patterns. I haven't had any decrease in foot stability from the 7s.

All in all, I think the 8s are a slight upgrade from the 7s. Once I burn through my last pair of 7s, I'll upgrade them to the 8s so that I can rotate two pairs.

My worst nightmare in tennis shoes. Barricades never had this issue.

Do the Propulse 4's have an issue with the foot sliding forward?

I would not say NEVER. I know of quite a few people that had HUGE issues with B4 and B5 with toe jamming.

I haven't had any issues with sliding or toe jamming. This version is much more comfortable than the 7s in my opinion. That with the great durability and stability that the barricade is known for, these are now my shoe of choice over the vapor 9 tours...

    Hey buddy,

I tried them on today. Local PGA store has them already on sale (the blue model) as they already have a few more colors in stock.
They felt light and felt like they were looser than the 7's. I almost wanted to try a half size smaller shoe.
    What is your thought?

Are they a little wider in the forefoot from previous versions or are they still a pretty narrow fit?
