Interesting statistic I just came across. The ONLY player Agassi has played MORE THAN ONCE that he has not defeated is/was Ronald Agenor from Haiti. Granted all the losses occurred from 87-89, one on clay, one on carpet & one on hard, BUT, nonetheless, they're still losses. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Interesting. Agassi was a top 10 player '88/'89, so the losses weren't meaningless.

Agenor was a very fit player(best surface was clay) He could get everything back & play all day. No big weapons.
He retired in the early 90s, came back on tour in the late 90s(when he was well into his 30s) Played a ton of futures/challengers & got his ranking back into the top 100 briefly(I think)
He almost beat Guga at a masters series in '00 or '01(when Guga was #1)

or just look up his bio on atptour.com

I saw him towards the end of his career @ the U.S. Open qualifying, but I can't vouch for him as a player in the late 80s lol.

Yes Malloy, you're right, his ranking was @ 98 after he took to the challenger circuit. His website has his picture w/Kuerten when Kuerten was #1. I think the headline said something about his ranking being in the 700s @ the time, but I could be wrong.

"Ronald has been wanting to compete on the Senior Tour for more than 4 years now but again, the politics of tennis and the rules have reserved the Senior Tour to a handfull of players, making Ronald's participation almost impossible. Always eager to compete, Ronald will maybe play again in a few selected ATP tournaments in the fall of 2005 ( he currently holds a protected ranking of #331 ATP ) but his main goal will be to help, assist, and guide the players he is coaching and managing to success."

Wasn't Rios owning Agassi for a while? I think that the only victory that Agassi had over Marcelo was by retirement, or when Marcelo was injured.

Saw the "Haitian Sensation" play at a clay court tournament in Atlanta (when Atlanta had a clay court tournament). I think Gilbert references Agenor in "Winning Ugly" due to the record and how hard Agenor hit the ball - I would not say he didn't have any weapons. He seriously thumped his forehand.

Before AA retires, maybe Nadal can have that distinction as well.

Nadal definitely didn't have Agassi's number. He was the one breathing hard and delaying Agassi's serve. That match could have gone either way. Not many people who have ever had Agassi's number except for Federer.

Don't forget Sampras. The head-to-head is not as close as indicated, IMO.

Yes in the Mythology course I took in college, Agenor was a son of Poseidon.
