Yelled at a ball girl for not being in position. Broke a racket, then yelling obscenities, finally penalized a point. Now he is refusing to play, claims it raining.
Referee told him to play or quit!

I posted this in the GD forum but wanted to post it here as well.

Andre doesn't generally behave like this - maybe he was just having a bad day.

I don't fault him for last year's Davis Cup tirade against Lars Graf. AA got hosed. Ljubicic hit a ball out on a game point, the linesperson called it out and both players were walking to their chairs when Graf said the linesperson called it in and it was now deuce. AA and PMac got up and said the linesperson called it out and put her arm out. Rather than actually ASK the linesperson whether she called it in or out, Graf then said he didn't see the call and was overruling it if it was called out. That was an absolute BS excuse. He didn't want to admit he missed the call. Andre swore at him and Graf penalized him. Most players, IMO, would have been ticked off too. AA then got broken.

Today's tirade which I didn't see, thanks ESPN2, sounded pretty ugly but it also seems like it's getting blown up. AA should apologize though and let that be the end of it.

So what. I dont see a problem with Agassi complaining about the court surface. He had a point, it was sprinkling out and the court was a little wet. Agassi wanted the match suspended so he could get the momentum. It was a great tactic. I think its great for the game when there is a lot of emotion and drama. Its good for business. It tennis wants to improve its ratings you need more of this.

    I was AT the match.

agassi was being outplayed and he used his celebrity to control the outcome.

He wasn't being outplayed, his head was just completely out of the match. He was dumping the easiest of shots. When he woke up he won some 17 points in a row.

a bit of emotion is entertaining. it's shameful, but entertaining nevertheless. definitely what tennis needs. maybe that's a sad reality, but it's a reality nevertheless.

he'll get owned sooner or later anyway... don't worry about that

Lude, AA stops play for 10 minutes after being down a break 3rd set, then rips off 6 games in a row to win the match. Great way to shift momentum, eh?

I didn't see the match, but I read on ESPN that Agassi's opponent slipped on the court because of the light sprinkling that Agassi had earlier complained about.

I can understand Agassi's frustration. Given his bouts with sciatica, the last thing he would want to risk is slipping and very likely re-aggravating the sciatica (Boy, I myself have sciatica for almost a year, and it is still not fully healed).

I am fairly sure that most pros who have injured themselves from slippery surfaces would like to have had the play suspended until the court dried up.

I did see the match and Goldstein did not slip, he tripped over his own feet and it had nothing to do with the court. Goldstein even said he didn't fall because the ground was wet, he only agreed to stop play because Agassi basically refused to go back out on to the court. There were other matches going on at the same time and no other match was suspended due to rain. In fact the umpire even stated that they were stopping play because of the sprinkling weighing on the mind of some players not because the court was wet.

I'm also disgusted with the reporting of what happened on court, no one mentioned that Agassi started complaining only after he was broken, broke his racket and was penalized for saying an obsenity that was audible.

Btw, noticed several players slip yesterday, thanks to ESPN, Nadal, Roddick, Safin, others. All seem to slide by using the side of their shoe but also wear ankle braces. Wonder if slipping and sliding was part of not being able to flex the ankle while wearing the brace?

Is there anyone else who leaves so much snot & spit on the court after a match? Does Agassi realize there are people watching or does he not just care? Absolutelely disgusting! I hope Haas takes out Andre in straight sets. What a prima donna!

Agassi's still angry that his win came only because Goldstein sat down to give him time to cry to the umpire.
Goldstein told him that he didn't fall because of the rain. Agassi's ego couldn't handle reality. The painful loss and childish whining from last year's Davis Cup weren't as important to him as the losses at Slams and Masters Series.
He loved that Roddick and the Bryans kissed his ass.
He's scared that he isn't perceived as a true great and that the media isn't always celebrating his charity endeavors.
