That was how he injured his hip. Such enthusiastic gyration caused major ligament damage.

since Lance Armstrong's foundation got dropped, I guess this left room for Agassi's foundation to fill in the void. just a wild guess

This would be great if it leads to an updated Air Tech Challenge with modern technology.

Maybe a Phil Knight collection as long as we're going geriatric -- he is, after all, in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

They should knock down their prices instead of signing a new player.

I don't want to pay 40 bucks for shorts.

I stop buying nike for same reason. You have pay around $100 for one t-shirt and short that's outrageous... period..even it is hard to find at good price at discount outlets.

Nike stockholders just called; said you're funny. :)

I like @T21D's theory. Especially if AA is going to play more of the Seniors events and be a human billboard.

Mac stuff was always the best. The crews and polos from 2010 I think (the year Harrison made that USO run) were perfection. Am forever after this shirt in a Large, but it's nowhere:

Good luck with that Andre' you should never have left them in the first place if you were loyal....but after what you did to Prince we know you are not.....any way happy wife ...happy life.....and the Steffmeister has a life deal with Adidas...so I would be very surprised .

actually the story was that adidas was willing and able to give to his foundation whereas nike was not and that was what in fact precipitated the change to adidas. in this story, it was about money but not necessarily in a negative way.

btw, what are you referring to re: prince? in his book, aa says that he never wanted to leave prince but that those managing him (mainly nicky b) signed him to a deal with donnay.

I wore the entire Nike range- had these very shirts/shorts..in blue as well as black. True story---I was wearing the denim with the liner just as you see it. Was practicing at a club. Went back to the girl I was playing with's apt...started to feel bad. Kidney stone. The hospital had to CUT THE SHORTS off me. Trash can.

if I recall right, Nick has his deal with Donnay first, and snagged ANH-DRAY. Used to do the PA announce at the Cincinnati ATP and sat with Nick a few times. The tan was awe inspiring.

Is that right........maybe IMG said to Donnay the only way to get Andre on side was to sweeten Nick (also a client), I think I heard 350K at the time, Tapie obliged and the rest was as they say a financial nightmare ;-| NB had no power to sign anything, IMG handled him.

Was just on a european direct website and noticed this in the description of the new color of the Air Max Challenge.

Nike Air Max Challenge - White/Grey/Black/Crimson

Worn by Andre Agassi and inspired by the Nike '91 Air Tech Challenge Shoe, the Nike Air Max Challenge Men's Tennis Shoe offers an improved fit and maximum impact protection with multidirectional traction for a variety of surfaces. An innovative lacing system provides a custom fit and arch support.

Makes it sound like it is a done deal.

If Agassi goes with Nike, what happens to all the Adidas pros that Adidas sends out to train with Gil Reyes (and sometimes hit with Andre)? Would he have a separate deal? If not, I wouldn't expect Andre to leave Gil out in the cold (I think they are teamed on some fitness products). Would Nike then start a coaching/training program with Reyes and maybe Cahill?

i've been rereading it to find out how he went with head. the book doesn't mention anything in that timespan (circa 1993) about a racquet switch. he showed up to the '93 wimbledon with a racquet that had the head radical "bumblebee" (yellow and black) pj. he may have had it before then but this was the first time i remember seeing it. in february of 1993, aa was still using a stick with a donnay stencil (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPxfJ1EtSqA&feature=endscreen&NR=1). andre had a really bad wrist injury in 1993 so maybe he switched to make things easier on the wrist? anyway here he is at halle (wimbly warm-up) with a blacked-out stick http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uypqwjj1vdM

I don't know how Agassi ended up with Head but I had a friend who had been with Yonex for a long time (he had some interesting Phil Mickelson stories) but he said when Agassi was shopping around for a new racquet deal, Yonex came to Agassi with basically a blank check and said fill it in with whatever you want and he said no thank you. They were desperate for a top male player and did everything they could to land him.

you know, i read an article that made an association between agassi and yonex but i first thought it was a typo. reading your comment makes more sense now. i'm not really surprised that he said no since their sticks a so very different from his early "grail" (pog os). in fact, he thought the early donnays were so different from the pog os that he quit using them briefly and went back to the pog os (with a D stencil) until donnay made a stick for aa that played more like the pog os.

yeah it was some tourney--memphis I think--playing with a pog os with a "D" on it, 'oh it's a prototype.' with...a crossbeam. or was that the tourney where they all ended up in the trashcan? I forget.

the last part of that post reminds me of something that i've read other places (not in the agassi book though) about aa getting a donnay prototype at the beginning of one season. he played a tournament with it and smashed them all. i want to say it was something like the ultimate pro (widebody). it was about the time that he switched to the orange and grey pro one pj i think.

this is about the only type of article i can find to verify this. i'd like to have something better but what are you gonna do?

1st round of French Open in 1990 is when Andre stomped on those Ultimate Pro widebodies which I think were blacked out, (I remember watching the match on ESPN & was like...). Apparently he liked them when originally testing but hated them during that 1st round. IIRC he took the 1st one, stomped & broke it in 1/2,(he was losing) got a racket abuse warning and then took out some more & stomped on those too, lol. Ended up winning the match & had his regular Donnays overnighted,(I believe).

I could swear I found that incident posted on YouTube a few years back but haven't been able to find it again! He was indeed wearing GOOAT with Nike Hot Lava & spandex!

I had the whole outfit myself, gonna have to head back home to parents & dig that outta storage, heh.

    *Edit*
    Check this out...

Yeah man I miss those days.............

I had one of the original Yellow/Blue retail Donnay Pro One OS racquets...I recall it developing a crack on around the throat, but a buddy of mine bought it off of me. I also remember Donnay having a "widebody" at the time, something name Formula that had the same paint job. From what I recall and speculated, I think the original retail Yellow/Blue Donnay Pro One OS was probably the first one they gave Andre to use that he didn't like that was tied to incident where he used blacked out POGs with the D stencil on them. Of course Donnay went back and reworked the Pro One OS (different mold) and came out with what consumers got with the Limited Edition Pro One OS that was only available in Grey/Pink and then eventually the "news print" paint job. I think many here got excited when TW reissued the Pro One OS in hopes they would've had some done in the Yellow/Blue paint job, but unfortunately they didn't...Don't recall why either.

I remember watching back in the day, an exhibition green clay tournament called the AT&T Challenge. It was there in 1990 that Agassi stated using the prototype Ultimate Pro. I remember him crushing shots and bulldozing opponents in that tournament and Andre seemed quite enamored by the new racquet. So fast forward to the opening of the French Open that year and yeah I saw it too where he was breaking the Ultimate Pro racquets because he was playing bad. I was shocked too because I was a fan of the whole "widebody" tennis racquet craze of that era.
