I would love to see Agassi defeat one of the clay kings to prove he is still a title contender aat 35. Furthermore, it would be intiguing to see Agassi V Nadal in the final. IMO Agassi could have the game to handle Nadals heavy spins, as he will simply step into the court and take the ball on the rise and make Nadal hit low flat balls that he is not used too. Coria is a baseline grinder and NADAL seems to have him worked out.

I'd like to see Andre win as well, but I don't think so. Coria is motivated and has already beaten Agassi on clay. On hard court, Andre owns him. I think Coria's youth will outlast Andre in 3 sets. I hope I'm wrong. If Andre could win the Italian Open at age 35 with all these great young clay courters in the mix, it might be his greatest tournament victory ever.

The Italian Open is like a major to Europeans.

You never know, Coria hasn't been in his super clay form yet this year and you can never count out Andre. And I believe he's won this tourney sometime in the past before.

Why should Coria play better here than he did at IW? Why should Andre play worse? How will this match be different from their 2003 RG quarterfinal?

Maybe I overestimate Andre, but in their previous claycourt matchup, it seemed Andre got annoyed and stopped trying. Coria started zoning in on the BDTL, and Andre kept feeding to that side.

    agassis timing

when andre is driving the ball the way he is right now and if he contineus to be doing it i know that it reallt really takes a lot to make him unsettled and to beat him . the condittions in rome are the best clayourts can afford andres style of play and he will win if he can dictate the match . i.e. like on hard courts .

coria is not as sharp as he has been i.e 2003 and 2004 on clay . but he can suddenly get fired up . my predition stand for andre. he is a strong storn man and he has persian fire in his veins ( thanks to his dad..)
    go andre !

Agassi is going to make Coria run around like a monkey, make his feet blister like the last time they played in Australia and Coria had to retire.

Tough one, Agassi had a 5-2 lead in the second set and then succumbed in the second set tiebreaker 7-0. The final score was 7-5 7-6(7-0). Overall I still think this was a good run in Rome by Andre. I expect Nadal to tear Coria apart for the first two sets and then have a tough third set.

The American looked like he might stage a comeback against Coria after losing the first set, when his own good sportsmanship cost him dear.

He was on the verge of evening the match with Coria when he served for the second set at 5-3.

On the second point of the game Agassi overruled a line judge and Coria replayed the point, which he won and went on to take the game

"Agassi is my idol and I wasn't just playing him, but the crowd as well, all of whom wanted him to win," said Coria.

Coria has played Nadal, 2 tournaments ago, I think he will be more prepaired and possibly win this time.
