Your problem is a lack of common sense. Go look if it is classified as a disease by the World Health Organization.

that is exactly what i provided. a link and a quote from the World Health ORganization, classifing it as a skin disease. i guess you just didnt read my post! did you?

who am i going to trust. a world scientific organization dedicated to study and fight diseases of all sorts or you?

Common sense is the weak minded excuse., i rather stick with science.

Yeah, but they also put acne on their list. How many people have never had acne in their entire lives? How many people have ever died from acne compared to cancer?

Are getting a tan or having mildly dry lips also diseases, too? How many people live in the hospital just because they are balding?

This is the strangest thread in the history of tt.:

Let me get this straight, Agassi wore a fracking toupee and lost a major title for it!!

Bravo Andre. Now my childhood memories have to be revisited because it turns out ANDRE AGASSI, that I despised (as a kid, not anymore) because I was a Sampras fan, WAS WEARING A PIECE THE WHOLE TIME!! I used to get into fights with my sister because she was an Agassi fan and since she didn't understand a thing about tennis SHE WOULD END EVERY ARGUMENT BY SAYING: YEAH, WELL AGASSI HAS AWESOME HAIR AND HE'S BETTER LOOKING THAN PETE SO I WANT HIM TO WIN!!

And if that wasn't enough, it turns out Baldness is a disease according to the WHO!!

I BETTER CALL IN SICK TOMORROW BECAUSE I'VE BEEN LOOSING MY HAIR FOR YEARS NOW! IF ONLY I HAD KNOWN EARLIER!

Honestly though, not to pile on but loosing your hair isn't all that bad. At least we have bald folk heroes now like Zidane and I guess Agassi too. Just keep it short or shave it. Makes getting ready in the morning really easy.

    ......nutty thread:confused:

Well, they say the bald gene is passed along by the mother, so they might luck out. If Steffi's father is bald though they don't stand a chance.

Again...now it's no mystery why Pete owned the biatch...

The only thing more sad is if I find out that Pete's wife is really a man, baby!

Well, there is a twist to this....

Back then, someone asked why Agassi didn't cut his hair and Nick replied "He makes about a million a year because of that hair". If the two of them actually thought he'd lose some endorsement money because he was bald, then yeah I can see it. Agassi wasn't a trillionaire at that point and was still trying to line the coffers.

All that disappeared when he finally did ditch the hat. It was pretty evident from his brother's Hair Club For Men treatment that it ran in the family. :) And truth be told, Agassi came out looking pretty cool for a white guy...most white guys look like they're doing chemo. ;)

I saw a photo of him of late and it appears he's let it grow to Sting length and bleached it blonde.

I can sympathize as in my youth I had a Mork from Ork look which has been replaced of late by a Tony Soprano hair doooo.

Agassi does look great with a shaved head. He should have done it earlier. 1992-1994 he looked like the cryptkeeper.

no you frackin idiot... THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (you do know whay that is dont you?) has the knowledge and the power to classify what and what is not to be considered a disease. in that case a skin disease. a non-disabilitating one, but one nonetheless!

but i guess you level of stupidity and common sense is to be taken for better than them!

    @Blinkism:
i may or may not have the power of logic but i certainly dont have the power of ignorance unlike you and the whole buch who take their common sense opinions for better than the world health organization boards of experts. but what should i expect coming from a guy who thinks a correlation is verifiable by simplisticaly observing a phenomenon!

haha. sarcasm; have you heard of it?
there is no need to become defensive. one must be rather insecure about one's self in order to be offended by a joke on an internet forum.
in retrospect, what i said was actually a compliment. thus, be thankful, for i don't throw those around very often. hahahaha.

The WHO puts up 'acne', a very common hormone imbalance among youngsters in their puberty, which goes away naturally with age in some 99% of cases, in their list of 'diseases' as well.

Get real. If early balding is all the trouble you ever get to endure in life, man, you're a very lucky one.

I distinctly recall walking past a magazine cover in 1994 after Agassi had shaved his head and saying to my friend, wow, he went bald overnight. And that has stuck in my mind ever since. Something just did not seem right about it. And how exactly does this work? I can understand how a bandana could hold the wig on... or how his baseball hat later held the wig on, but I've found photos of him with no bandana or hat playing tennis. Did strong glue hold it on? Staples? I suppose a baseball hat would have been the easy solution for the 1990 French, but apparently coming out of 1980's a hat with pony tail was not fashionable. The 80's were a sad, superficial period. People don't understand; at that point, in that culture, had he shaved his head to look like a real man, he would have looked like a freak/loser. Federer would have been the perfect 80's boy. He was born 15 years too late.

Agassi has grown his hair out to "Sting length"? I have seen him several times recently on tv, magazine covers etc. and he is as bald as ever. Where did you see him with bleached hair?

Um...as I posted extensively, Agassi wore a hat on court and off court for most of 92-94.

Your statement about the 80's being "sad" and "superficial" is silly. We're no more "enlightened" now. This is made obvious by your ironic statement contained within the same sentence: shaved head = real man.

PS. If you found photos of him playing in 93 or 94 without hat, please post them. I do not recall that at all.

This contradicts absolutely nothing I said. So, my question to you would be: And?

No, not if you distinctly recall 80's zeitgeist as I and millions of others do. It's perfectly on point.

There was nothing ironic about the statement. A real, natural look of any kind - shaved head, straight hair, etc., etc., was extremely unfashionable in the 80's.

I didn't say I found a photo of him from 93 or 94 without a hat. You do realize that 1990 came before 1993, right? Further, I can confirm for you that 1989 came before 1993. Again, I have no earthly idea what your point is. Perhaps you could enlighten me.

Now there is double irony. OoOOH the layers! LOL. You still dont' realize that your assertion that shaving your head makes you look like a "real man", is just as superficial (or moreso), as the generalization which you have painted an entire decade with. As far as your 80's zeitgiest goes, no problem, stick with your subjective impression, make assertions, and pretend they're fact. Without some rubric, your impression is nothing more that the opinion of one person. That is not a problem except that you portray it as far more. MY opinion is that this era is at least as superficial and image oriented. In fact, ironically, the 90's was marked by a movement of people (like you), who's image was centered on NOT being as superficial as the 80's. Again, another irony I'm sure is lost on you.

athletes seem to have no recourse when it comes to preventing hair loss. propecia is a banned substance because it can be used as a masking agent for PED's. luis horna and some other player got bagged for it a few years ago (5 or 6, maybe). i think horna got off, but the other guy pulled kind of a "yeah, me too" defense, piggybacking on horna's explanation. the atp didn't buy it (surprisingly... "yeah, you see, what had happen was i drank a soda that was spiked with propecia, and..." hey, it worked for andre).

Balding? Gorecki...receding hairline...male pattern baldness? Me too. I remember it starting in college. Looked great, actually. Still looks great, but now I keep it shorter ortherwise it'll look stringy up front.

I do remember stressing about it a little bit in my late 20s/early 30s. I read that we lose our hair because of testosterone.

Yes, it is manly. It is what men do -- we lose our hair. Concerned about manhood...you're actually MORE manly if you lose your hair.

Lose the vanity. Bald is cool. Balding is cool, too. Having hair like a lady? Not for me.

Keep it real. Minoxidil, Propecia and all of that.....is for poseurs. Keep it real. Bald is beautiful.

"Meanwhile Romanian legend Ilie Nastase and Russian ace Marat Safin have called on Agassi to return all his titles after he revealed he escaped a doping ban by lying to officials after taking the recreational drug Crystal Meth in 1997.

"If he is as fair as he claims to be, he take this path until the end. The ATP has a bank account where he can transfer all the prize money he won," Safin said"

Yeah, like crystal meth really helped Agassi's performance during the time he was taking it. Safin is a f**king moron and a pathetic underachiever..all the talent in the world, little to show for it.

^Harsh.^ Marat and Ilie have something in common? LOL! I know Ivanisevic has expressed something similar, too. Maybe Rios can complete the crazy quartet.

But I guess it adds credence to BB Socrates' theory that AA was not well-liked on the tour.

"Image is everything" was Agassi's motto back then. If the toupee had fallen off in front of the world's viewers, he would never have lived it down and would have probably died of embarrassment.
