    Ash you wrong again.

as I wrote in 5263's smart target thread.. the target may very well be 2ft in (well, give or take), but the fact that the balls usually don't hit on the sweet spot dictates that the landing pattern is well short of the target.

not only i put on 3.25g lead, I also changed the 'blue grip that never slips', ordered underArmor shirt, Barricade shoes, Nike bandana and Rayban shades.

all these marginal gains, in 5 minutes.

you sukkers can sweat on the court working on world class basics.

Arrogant is irritating, but arrogant AND wrong is truly hard to stomach isn't it

World Class Basics a tennis player should have before they seek marginal gains

Maybe you can give me more thoughts on above.
My thoughts are the 1st serve aspect is not one of these basics and that the
basic here is the slice/top slice of the second serve.

That's fine - that's why I started the thread, to canvas opinions on what people thought the WCB's should be/could be.

I think you're correct about 2nd serve, but the slice/topspin on second serve, for me, is a means to an end - the end being the ability to direct the 2nd serve in such a way that you maintain (very) high consistency and can protect yourself off the return - remaining at least neutral on the first ball.

I still think a high % first serve is essential as a WCB though!

    Cheers

I wasn't saying you were wrong, just more trying to get at what level of basics
    we were talking.

I can't stop thinking about that couch. He's the star of the thread now. Where can I order one of those? Will it give me marginal gains?
