Alcaraz at 20 has already surpassed all of the next gen who were being hailed in 2018/2019 as the future of tennis. Zverev, Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Ruud, Thiem - all of them surpassed in the span of 2 years by Alcaraz. Truly puts into perspective how weak the competition has been and how much vulturing had been going on before Alcaraz came along.

Just gonna have to hope that what follows behind him is really damn good, because multiple generations ahead of him will soon be obsolesced and I won't be surprised if his biggest rivals in 2024 happen to be... yep... Djokovic and Nadal (mainly clay).

Imagine if there's another dearth of talent for multiple generations like there was after the Djo-Dal-Ray gen. I dread to think the sort of damage which could be done to the record books, even if another from his gen rises to an ATG level, such as Rune.

To be fair, the guy did get that nasty injury last year. But he’s messed up every other opportunity he had. Worst part is that, even with Djokovic and Nadal getting old, he now has Alcaraz to deal with.

I actually don't even mind Zverev but yeah I agree. Good run at RG at least. But yeah from where he is now to where we thought he would be 5-6 years ago is undeniably disappointing for him. He's got time to still figure it out though. But he's running out of it

Ironically, his only top 10 win in a slam is none other than Alcaraz lol. But yeah, his window to win a slam is slowly getting smaller. He still has a long career ahead of him, but he’s now the least successful among the next get triad.

Agreed. He hasn’t surpassed Hewitt and Safin yet though but will very soon. He is looking better than every non big 3 player since Sampras, a true ATG.

I think he’s added literally nothing to his game that wasn’t there six years ago. Forehand? Nope. Second serve? Nope. Slice, net game, variety? Nada. Big waste of some genuine potential.
