    That is fair.

But coming back to the point, all such monuments have been shown to have been constructed using simple tools and a lot of time and labor. No need for ancient aliens and their laser machining equipment.

There is something in what he says. Maybe it's just that today there is too much corruption (adulteration of construction material).

In Delhi you can see how walls and monuments have survived from centuries back where today's structures just crumble and fall after a decade or two.

From what i gather, in the old days, art was for art's sake. Kings usually patronized/sponsored art allowing (some) artists to survive -- obviously using taxpayer's money. Today it is difficult for artists to survive unless they create what sells. Whether he did it for himself or for art's sake, most ancient art (at least in India) would not have existed were it not for royal support.

There is nothign in that temples construction that could not be replicated if it was so desired.

Slave conditions or whatever aside. The amazement in these structures is the size and scale and how it corelates to the time involved in building such a thing.

but with enough money that could be built today and be more durable. There is no doubt in my mind.

    Yeah right...
How do you lift those pyramid stones with the technology they hade at that time? And also, why even build something so difficult?

Money? Just imagine how much it would cost today to build 3 pyramids that big...

Come on!! we know we cant build those kind of monuments/ structures / temples with all the money as those were build with some extreme engineering skills as it was proved and it was also pointed out that materials/tools they used are many times better than what we use today. Also its just not about construction techniques but they also represented some spiritual advancement for them . this is the top view of the buddhist Borobudur temple in indonesia i am talking about

Apparently it represents some buddhist mandala with perfect geometry and it is one of the main structures mainly used for meditation techniques

now tell me we can do that ;)

For me, this is the truly fascinating thing. I'm not an engineer, but this really is an amazing story.

S., I'm sure you're passionate, but there is the question lingering of what extent some of the "people" actually shared in the desire to form monuments, etc. Consider prehistoric times.

I simply wonder at what skills we as a people have lost over time.

Think of how the railroad bridges, etc., were built in Switzerland without computers; how the moonshot took place with a minimal computing base, etc.

You are exactly the audience the show targets.

How the stones were lifted has been well studied. You can find them yourself.

I was told since childhood that it was impossible to build them using any known technology. But I don't believe that any more.

The video explains how (for another site) the boulders could not be brought there, as per the claims, as there were no trees for rollers. Yes there are no trees at the site (how can they be?) but there are plenty a short distance away. Not only that, the boulders had places where ropes were tied for dragging. You will not hear those things from these people.

Another "mystery" was a temple in southern India with massive stones at the top. Only ancient aliens could have had the technology. Except that when an aerial view is used, it is seen that a slope of dirt was created reaching to the top which was used to roll the stones, and then the dirt was removed once the stones were placed.

The video explains that the "16000 year old" site was actually built in 400 AD. There is notorious twisting of facts.

They had 32K RAM to work with!

It was mostly hand-crafted assembly code. A great achievement.

Don't say someone is trolling if you disagree with them, please. Just stick to the facts.

Kings have done both - made statues of themselves and of gods, to show that they have the divine right to rule. One boosts the other.

The other reason is to propagate their religion. The South Asian temples were constructed in times when Hinduism and Buddhism were vying for popularity. Big monuments served to boost one side or the other.

    To inspire people

    To provide jobs

Sometimes to divert their attention from their real problems

To show the other rulers how great this king is

    To appease the gods

To provide tombs for their burial in style

    We can.

Why don't you research all the archaeological research that has gone into documenting how these places were built before believing all these things? It seems the TV shows go out of the way never to discuss any archaeological analysis which will destroy their stories in one sweep.

The Lochness monster and the Area 51 alien have to be kept alive for the locals to earn money from tourism and for us to have something to talk about at dinner.

    Otherwise life is boring.

Ok enough internet for me today :) that is the most stupid argument i have ever seen , so are you suggesting that there were no temples until when hinduism waited for buddhism to appear many centuries later and then the kings waited for it to come and build them out of competition lol....its not that if someones life is boring they go to places like these or admire them ..and you produce every argument like you have seen everything in person or lived in some kings body

Well I've asked many of my engineers and architects friends about the subject and all the studies you seem to refer to are only theories.
There are no solid proof or explenation of how those pyramids were built.

What did you expect other than a theory? A Youtube video showing it being built?

Many "engineers" are not necessarily logical people, nor are all "educated" people. Many people are good at applying their knowledge, but very few can finely distinguish between hypothesis, levels of proof, projections from existing data, and criteria of what is reasonable. When it comes to stuff which is not reproducible today (because of cost, scale, energy limitations etc), even many scientists are not rational. That is why you need to look at whether the work is peer-reviewed and where, the intent of the people behind the work, and the overall circumstances. In this case, the suppression of published evidence refuting the ancient alien theories and a total disregard for scientific work which has already been done makes it very difficult to take these guys seriously.

About keeping an open mind, etc.: No. Not all "opposing viewpoints" should be taken seriously. Some are malicious, some are ignorant. The earth is not flat, and we don't keep our minds open to that possibility anymore, which was once an accepted fact. In a democracy, you don't keep an open mind about someone who threatens to kill you if you vote. It is also a "viewpoint," but you don't tolerate it.

I'm never convinced by the skepticism surrounding the construction of the pyramids. You'll be quite surprised what you can do when you have A) Time and B) Thousands upon thousands of slaves that serve as effectively disposable people, both of which the Egyptians had.

Don't get me wrong here. There is plenty of distance between the truthful "I am not very sure how these were built" and the bogus "Hence aliens." Don't let these guys divide you by a false fallacy of making you look like someone who says the Pyramids were easy to build. Many are falling into this trap.

It is true that there are many mysteries. One discovery has been the discovery of an underground canal system underneath the pyramids. A theory goes that the huge stones were floated on boats. Archimedes principle makes life easy.

"There are some things we know and some we don't" does not sell books and TV shows. "Hence aliens" does.

I can't believe people just can't give credit to the aliens when there is no simpler explanation. Trying to come out with some coc and bull story about canals and slopes for getting huge slabs to the top of a mountain a thousand miles away just to give credit to some humans in loincloths without even air-conditioning or microwave.

FCS, the truth is staring us in the face. The aliens were here. It's on the cave walls, even. They did stuff for the ancients and then went back to Betelguese.

Actually, we can do better than that. For example, take the Moscow Metro.

It has 188 stations (one of which is on a bridge above the Moscow River), 313 km of track, and transports 7 million passengers on an average day. And, it's almost entirely underground. http://www.mosmetro.ru/about/

Here are a few of the stations:

You will get a kick by watching it. They allude to Indian mythology several times. They show some description of a fire-breathing guy or a flying chariot and claim that they are nuclear weapons or advanced fighter planes. Imagine how much can be mined from there. A figure of Narasimha or someone similar was described as genetic engineering technology to mix lions and humans DNA.

^ Yeah, I have read of Indian scriptures that have details of all kinds of crafts that can rise silently, hover, and so forth. Not sure whether that was the science fiction/fantasy of the day or what.

^^ Nice sig, spaceman. I wonder if Chuck understands half the CN jokes!

The aliens taught us Sanskrit. These secrets are cleverly coded into the scriptures to fool people of lesser intelligence like you. But smart alecs like me can see through layers of code. They gave advanced wireless television technology to Dhritrashtra in his condo to see the Mahabharata war far away. Those hundred sons were through in-vitro fertilization.

Saw this video. Interesting video by Dr. Greer. If US government is hiding something, it seems like it is global including Russians. Therefore, they must have a good reason for doing so. Perhaps revealing this secret could mean disaster to human beings. I highly doubt it is just cause they want this to be a secret.

Do you seriously think that an underground station with pictures on it matches the borobudur architecture with statues carved out of pure rock that stood the test of time with considerations of how the top view and every view should be and constructed with geometry and advanced tools that modern scientists cannot even fathom and get a hold of 'em and there is no blueprint of it anywhere Think not !

Why do you think a blueprint would still be around?

And "modern scientists" do know how it is built, though there may be some topics needing further research.

    Hence, aliens.

I think you have a poor understanding of what modern scientists can fathom. I also think you have a poor understanding of the type of advanced tools that we currently have.

Just another quick example: we have the power to launch a rocket that can put an incredibly precise telescope into orbit around the Earth (eliminating the distortion of the atmosphere) and then control it remotely to search the far reaches of the universe.

Modern aliens? Yes. Ancient aliens? I'm not so sure.

More proof of modern aliens: the development of quantum computers (computers that use quantum-mechanical phenomena to perform operations rather than silicon chips).
