If Murray wins Djoko won't tie the record this year

I agree....most likely Novak will win. Though hoping Federer can pull a 2011 RG miracle.

Also....why does every ex-pro bandwagon? They change their opinion based on who is on form or who won the last slam. McEnroe picked Murray to win US Open 2012 then changed to Federer to win it midway.

I've said it before I'll say it again, Murray, Tomic and Nadal will win all the slams for the next 3 years.

This isn't exactly a dark horse pick. I disagree with folks who have Djokovic with a huge margin over Murray for this AO. They're neck and neck IMO..

It is either going to be Djokovic or Federer. I don't see how Murray is going to go past Federer in a slam.

It's cute how Andre is scared that another player will equal his 4 titles (and actually Djoko is young enough he could easily win more ). That being said, he could be right too. Murray is the 2nd favorite and he won USO, so I can't say I would be surprised if he won AO too.

Who says Fed will even make the semi? + there is a first time for everything. I think Murray could be ready to score his first win vs Fed in a hard court slam (if he doesn't stumble in early rounds!)

Made semis or better in 7 of the last 8 slams. That's decent consistency.

I agree. I would give Djokovic the slight edge at the AO (his best slam) but I think either Djokovic or Murray will win the title this year.

i think murray will do it.

am i the only one who thinks murray should start shaving his head to add a step to his game?

I was really close to picking murray too. But murray on a fast court yes, but murray at the aussie open really favors djokovic. Murray was really close to beating him last year and actually should have, but djok was really tired and out of it. I don't think you'll see that this year. I hope he rolls it out if fed doesn't make a surprise capture.

over here in britain it was announced that murray had put on '3lb of muscle' since the last close season winter training block (in miami)..

also it was claimed his speed and endurance stats are improved on last year as well..so..lets see what happens :)

he has gone all rocky balboa...chasing chickens, running up massive flights of steps, eating 6 raw eggs at 5am in the morning..

and defeating apollo creed in a sprint on the beach :|

Nah, don't think that's the case, he's just giving his opinion.

Agassi is already overly complementary of current players as it is, he flat out said Novak is a better player than him.

Yeah, I don't see why he would be scared of that happening. It is not like it would be the first time for it. Federer already equaled his record 3 years ago.

Not to mention that Agassi just doesn't strike me as the type that can't let go of his records in tennis.

Here's what he said about Novak:

    http://novakdjokovic.com/en/news/tennis/andre-agassi-i-dont-worry-for-novak/

    “Does Djokovic resemble myself?”
Agassi said. “No, he is even better. He defends really well, while I struggled more in that element of the game. Novak looks totally relaxed when defending, completely calm and the quality of his return is incredible. He is also extremely flexible in his game, which is facilitated by his ability to anticipate his rival’s moves. That is why I think he is a much more versatile player than I was and he is also much more athletic.”

Doesn't sound to me like someone that worries Novak will surpass him.

The AO has always been Murray's best slam IMO, just not his greatest results. He WILL take this.

Ego? They want to look smart?

AA is so busy with his school - and now some new workout machines - I can't believe he's following the game that closely. But opinions are like .... belly buttons... almost everyone has one.

Murray did not look that great in the final in Brisbane. Dimitrov was up in both sets; pretty nice late Xmas gift.

If it's just a typo mate - forgive me, but just in case: it's complimentary.

Complimentary = saying nice things (or free of charge)

    Complementary = goes well with

For the uninitiated, I'm not being an A-hole - Zag and I have an agreement that I will flag up anything in his English that is even a little bit incorrect. It doesn't happen very often as his English is better than most of the people who live in my town!

This. Very little separates the two and a lot will depend on day form. I still give Djokovic a slight edge because of the Houdini act he has pulled several times in the past being down MPs , but there are bound to be times when he has an off day or the opponent is too good for him.
Also, you never know someone like Delpo, Tsonga or Berdych could get their act together and make it deep which will make things interesting.

I want Murray to win it. Will add some dynamics and excitement to future Slams, i.e hard to anticipate the winner. Enough already with the two-horse (sometimes three) race we've been having.

    Good post.

    Let me share this:

    http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gty9b09pK-I&api_format=3&vndel=watch

This year however, Andy is definitely playing Rocky to Novak's Drago. Would be funny if a new YouTube video could be made.

    These are how the chances stack up for winning 2013 AO;

    Djokovic: 95%
    Federer: 3%
    Everybody else: 2%

I think betting odds should reflect this.
