Nadal down a set and a break - if he crashes out, it will show he's a long way from Federer's amazing focus. Of course, so was Roger at age 18 - but Borg already had it then, and Nadal's Borg-like high-percetentage topspin game should form fully at an earlier age than Federer's all-court genius.

Andreev's quite a good player on clay - he took out Ferrero at Roland Garros last year, and reached the Gstaad final after Wimbledon. I wouldn't worry too much about Nadal losing this week, after all, it's only an IS and he probably needs some rest before Monte Carlo.

4-1 in second set for Andreev. Bye Bye Nadal. Better luck next week. At least he honoured his committment to the Valencia tournament and didn't pull out with an "injury" after his long 5 setter last Sunday.

WOW finally Andreev showing some true potential. I saw this guy beat Agassi at queens last yr on the grass and he had a big serve and massive forehand. People forget that although he is russian he was brought up on the clay.

People who were watching it on TV said that Nadal played horribly -- he wasn't moving, his was serving badly and hitting many UE's. Andreev played better, obviously, but apparently it wasn't a pretty match.

Rafa needs a rest, and probably should have pulled out of Valencia. But as you say, he honored the commitment, won a couple good matches, and hopefully will be ready for Monte Carlo.

Also, Gonzalez lost, too. So you need to be making bets on Navarro Pastor and Andreev now. ;-)

andreev has got a HUGE serve. his strokes are great too. Nadal was probably fatigued after that match with fed. But andreev is great (and russian) :>

And lives and trains in Valencia -- which I just discovered. Not a bad bet for the final.

Andreev has a great game. Very little weaknesses and plenty of strengths. He also can return big, and when I think of Nadal's serve, I think of a crushed ball. Like I said before, he is another one of those guys that doesn't make the tube often and can hang with anyone.

Andreev can play, He shows fantastic potential. Wasn't he the one who made that run in french last year or before.
