Andy Murray is nowhere close to being called braveheart... Nadal is a better example.

    Certainly not braveheart imo.

The way he played against the world number 662 on Friday who is a doubles specialist was poor, his attitude was a disgrace when he went 2 sets to 0 down.

He played ok in the doubles but has withdrawn from the final days singles which has resulted in us losing to Israel. Looks like we have to play someone like Ireland or Bulgaria or teams of that standard in some kind of playoff.

We are really bad at Davis Cup

Unfortunately, you could also show a pic where his body language is a portrait of defeat, like his last Wimbledon match; he didn't even fight, just gave up.

Murray is not overrated. He's just young. His talent isn't overrated. He just hasn't put forth results worth discussing.

He is a pure ball striker. He absolutely dismantled Roddick at Wimbledon and Roddick is a two time finalist. He played wonderfully there last year as well. If you can't see the potential you're blind.

First of all, who are you to call me a moron? I hope for your sake you're under 20 years of age. I assume it's your prerogative that people with differing opinions are morons?

He's 19 years old. If he wins a grand slam--and he has plenty of time to do it--you're going to look very stupid, or you'll just lie and talk about how much greatness you saw in him. He's 19 and top 40 in the world. He clearly hasn't matured physically or mentally and STILL beat two time Wimbledon finalist on his best surface. I don't see how he's overrated. I don't hear anyone talking about him outside of Britain.

Hey sandiegotennisboy, go drown yourself in the Pacific.

Okay, so he's the Arturo Gatti of tennis (Looks good, but still no meaningful results, streaky at best as far as matches won...). So, at this point, he's still a loser, IE not a winner.

Well my cousin is a moron. So I'm insulted that you would say such a thing.

He became moronic in a freak nailgun fight accident.

    Lol. Well put Eviscerator.

    Anyway, back to Murray...

It's devastating to picture an entire nation's children are supposed to admire Murray as a role model.

Arrogant, petulent and nauseatingly immature, he sure knows how to find an excuse for almost every conceviable bump in the road he comes across (or so it seems thus far in his career).

Such a cocky attitude for a young pro.... and you just can't blame his age or inexperience for his naïveté and brash nature. With a young Andre, it was radical... with Hewitt it was fiery and entertaining...with this guy, it borders irritating.

Besides, I'm shocked at how people can admire his tennis and call him so gifted. Sure, he has talent worth a mention, but so does more or less every other guy in the top 200. Murray's so-called genius and talent is nothing short of Santoro's game: chipping, slicing, drop-shotting, lobbing, and most importantly annoying to the point of making the opponent frustrated and commit an untimely error. The only difference is that Santoro's tactics were original...Murray is simply annoying and boring to watch.

Even more surprising to me is the fact that many Americans on this forum seem to like him or his play, when you guys have far more exciting players and likeable characters to root for, like Andre, Andy, and James, to name a few.

It's fine to appreciate Murray has good hands and a noticeable feel for the ball, but wouldn't you rather watch someone rip winners from the back of the court or curl a pass round a sharp volleyer?!

Not only is Murray overrated; he's also overfunded. The LTA are pulling back the majority of funds for other British players, whether juniors or pro's, and ignoring all up-and-coming tennis talent, instead simply heralding Murray as the new saviour of British tennis. Over 1/2 a million for Gilbert? Please!

The bottom line: Murray is an unexciting, uninspiring player who exhibits undignified behaviour on court and simply does not deserve to pull all LTA funds towards himself to cement his future in tennis and remove the foundations from other potential British tennis talent.

Most importantly, I find Murray's on-court attitude and nature not audacious, but annoying.

ok i think half of the responses are taking this out of context. i took the gesture in the picture/scotish inspired attire/ and the fact that he is scottish - and it kind of reminded me of braveheart. i wasnt saying anything about murray, his game, or his likeableness. that was in another thread.

Sorry Bogie for taking it out of context.

Your braveheart assumption is perfectly reasonable, as you have justified.

    It's just I get over-excited when people mention Murray's overrated-ness. :D
