Ankle support

I wear Prince T22s. My blue pair is super comfy, held up for a long time, but it's work out now. My red pair is the same size but the for is much looser. My foot slides and my ankles move. I've already sprained an ankle in them.

Are T22s considered to have light, moderate, or heavy ankle support? I'm looking for a similar shoe with good ankle support. It must have wide room for the toes.

Any suggestions?

Why don't you buy the Aircast A60 ankle braces. It is used by Andy Murray. I have them on both left and right ankle and it works wonder. Got it on sale for $25 each a few weeks ago.

I don't think I need that much. But yes maybe. Does long term use weaken your ankles?

Amen to that! Best ankle support ever. I also use them on both feet

My son is currently training at a tennis academy in CA and he suffered a minor ankle sprained three days ago while wearing aircast A60 on both feet. The orthopedist said that it could have been much worse without the ankle braces. I don’t think the ankle braces will completely prevent ankle injury but it will definitely prevent it from getting worse, according to the orthopedic surgeon that treated my son.

Yes, long term wearing braces will weaken stabilizing muscles, unless you spend extra time doing exercises to strengthen them.

Did you try Babolat propulse fury? Good support, enough room for toes though somewhat toasty. I quite often rolled both ankles before buying them.

In my cases, mid top shoes were more effective than any ankle braces.
also way more convenient.

too bad, most shoe company don't make mid+ cut tennis shoes.
hoop shoes are more than adequate for me at the moment.

Necroing this thread... I'm on break #4 of my right ankle, and really don't want to have #5. I'm using ASO braces, but I really want any extra ankle stability I can get, even at the cost of additional weight. What are the best (durable) tennis shoes with extreme ankle support? I play about 5 days a week, and I'd like my shoes to last for at least 3 months. The only high-top shoe that I found is the Wilson Amplifeel but none of my local retailers carry it in my size (Men's 12.5 or 13 depending on cut), and I want to try on a new shoe before I buy it so I don't have to deal with returns if it doesn't fit comfortably.

I saw the suggestion on basketball shoes, but wouldn't those wear out very quickly on the much more abrasive tennis court?

Shortly - They will.

I found Babolat Propulse Fury solved my repeated rolling ankle issue successfully. Although I was not at the stage of wearing braces all the time (only for about a week after rolling)...

Wilson has the Amplifeel that has an ankle wrap built into the shoe that I want to try. I have had some ankle rolls and currently wear a simple support on my left ankle for now. I just started wearing the Nike Zoom Zero's and they are slightly higher cut than standard shoes offering 'some' additional support.

I liked the Nike kyrgios x Kyrie 5 design, but the colors were awful. However, I was looking for ankle support and checked out the Nike website for basketball shoes. They have the regular Kyrie 5, a mid cut, that you can design with your own colors. I did, and WOW. Great cushioning, especially on the forefoot air pocket. Keeps your feet bouncing in the court. Played in them three times and they are wonderful. Chose my own colors and everyone comments on them. Given them a look and order a 1/2 size up. I wear a 9.5 but needed a 10 for this shoe
