ok the first point if you win you get 15 pts, then it goes to 30,

Why does it go to 40 for the next one instead of 45??

Okay if its 40 all, whoever gets the next point has the advantage, but
How many actual points are they getting for that point, 5, ten, none?

It's a wiki, why don't you go onto it & start fixing it? Wiki's generally become accurate over time.

How do you know? How does anyone know. Tennis took its scoring system from Court Tennis, and the scoring system for Court Tennis is ancient. The speculation in the wiki article seems plausible. "45" simply got shortened to "40". But no matter what it's called, it's the third point of a game. As Shakespeare said, "What's in a name?"

They eat a dessert called spotted dick, too

Well it's a rule that dates back to merry old england, where they decided to set the measurement of an official foot as the length of the King's actual foot. Whether that included his toenails we'll never know... Same kind of logic applies here. Just memorize the scoring system and move on with your life.... :)
