Why do they show COMPLETE matches of the Williams sister? I understand they ahve to focus on American players but they don't even do that for Roddick or any other American. They usually show a different court when the match is about to end or when the opponent is getting dominated. However, only the Williams sister matches get shown in their entirety and its annoying. I'm sick of watching them play every single effing day. Show us some other world players matches. I want to see Davydenko or Verdasco play but NO, I have to watch another boring domination match with no variety other than baseline bashing mixed with moaning. In today's world, it doesn't matter what country you hail from. All players are pretty much broken down by their brand sponsors now so I don't see why the Williams should get special treatment. Maybe all the years of their whinning about racism and ESPN got scared.

I love watching a Serena match that is 6-0,3-1. LOL! Nothing like a Williams double header every other night. Makes me sick when they show their matches instead of Feds matches. Maybe someday they will understand that Americans interested in tennis don't always want to watch matches that have Americans playing in them. Every time I see a WTA match on TV, I am hoping for a 6-0,6-0 match in under a hour. Get on with showing the mens matches. ESPNs coverage is horrible. Thank goodness for streaming.

By the way, look at the thread you started: http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=307375
So you can complain about ESPNs and Tennis Channels coverage because you have a better grasp on their viewership than I do? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I kept hoping the Serena match would end quickly so we could go back to Federer, but that stupid 5-0 game must've kept them there for the rest.
I'd watch Fed triple bagel someone any day before I'd view a Williams screamfest, so maybe I'm biased.

I don't see how its possible that a typical tennis fan would prefer to watch Serena every day rather than watching Versasco or Davydenko.

I think ESPN doesn't get it because they don't know tennis.

i HATE when ESPN shows any other matches. I need my regular williams sisters tennis dose. The more williams matches the better off we are. There is nothing more to tennis than watching a williams double header with occassional mix of Vania king match points.

I dont know whats the big obsession about Federer. He plays and he wins most of the times. whats there to see?.

In fact i was recommending TNT to telecast a few tennis matches of Serena. It claims "we know drama" and Ever since she added the "shove it down the throat" routine, i cant think of a better drama.

Thanks ESPN360. Thats one thing they did right!

Why don't they just create a new channel called ESPN-W (Williams), since there is soooo much demand for the Williams matches, they could just broadcast both old and new matches 24-7.

I love this idea. Brilliant!. ESPN should do it. while they are at it, they could use Tennis channels 'one minute clinic' idea and incorporate it. Eagerly looking forward for a serena's one minute clinic on "get the ball down the throat" for better tennis.

True but I would like to watch some matches in BED instead of sitting infront of my computer watching some match in non HD. But then against I'd sit infront of my computer watching a nonHD match than any Williams' HD moanfest.

    hahahhahahaha +1

How can it be ratings when 95% of tennis fans despise them and refuse to watch them? It has to HURT ratings having them on there instead of a mens match or Henin/Clisters type women's match.

i suppose we should be thankful that the williams sisters are in the same half of the draw and play on the same day. otherwise espn would be boring us with them every day.

People say this all the time, but I've asked defenders of this ratings argument to show me the numbers.

I really think the whole ratings thing was a bit of a fiction because it cropped up during a novelty couple of years for the WTA: Two black sisters playing and dominating a notoriously white sport combined with the sexualization of the tour with Kournikova.

Then, I think all the women's proponents kept the fiction alive by just resorting to "women have higher ratings" argument when trying to get equal pay or justify recurring TV coverage of matches completely devoid of drama or variety other than the occasional match-up of a pretty girl on one side and a huge fat cow on the other.

But really, I can remember MAYBE one time in the early 2000s when I actually saw published ratings numbers saying women had higher ratings... and I'm not even 100% sure I saw that. Other than that possible instance, no one has ever substantiated that assertion with numbers for me.

In fact, since most tennis coverage nowadays is Grand Slams, it's hard to even fairly say a GS segment of coverage with men OR women was higher rated than the other since it's hard to see if viewers are tuned in and stay there frustrated that they are watching women (or vice versa).

For me, it boils down to simple logic: Men are the predominant sports viewers. Men generally don't watch women's sports (now, there ARE numbers and demographic surveys you can look up to confirm this). Thus, there's no way the women could consistently outpace the men by a mile in the ratings.

I don't get it. There is like one or two great players from several countries but those nations' networks don't just play Murray coverage for example. We're not the only country that has few tennis players. Honestly if I have to watch the Williams again I will freak out completely. I Like them but Its total overkill. What happened to getting a true view of the form of the overall field??
