With the way the Aussie dollar is going, buying stuff from the US is not a bad option. The painful thing is the postage, customs and import taxes!

If any tennis-loiving Aussies are going abroad, and would like to bring back some tennis gear, could you please let me know? I would be happy to pay the costs and whatever else to get a good deal on some racquets / strings etc.

Same offer for any Americans visiting Australia. Come and see our country, play tennis and bring some tennis gear for me. Apart from the costs involved, I'll throw in a slab of beer, a BBQ at my place, a fluffy kangaroo and a dead wombat!

    Thanks.

We Americans are not afraid of dead wombats. We're just afraid you're going to make us eat that Vegemite crap.

    Hi Joe,

You know, I once read that an American said that Vegemite tastes like axle grease. I don't know about that, but I am concerned that people over there are eating axle grease. :)

Actually, Vegemite is made from yeast extract, the stuff that's left over from brewing all that beer. Perhaps that's why the Aussies love the Vegemite.

When are you coming the Australia Joe? Perhaps we can do a little peanut butter and jelly?

You'll do better to bribe me with a Foster's. Not that it's great beer, but it comes in that big honkin' can. :)

Do they even have Foster's beer in Australia? I know it's not made there.

Beer, more beer and a big homebrew industry.

Fosters is made by Carlton and United Breweries here in Australia. We even have something called "Budweiser", but it's a little weak and no-one really likes it that much. Strange stuff. ;-)

OK Joe, come to Australia, bring me a couple of Tour 90s and some strings and I not only pay for the gear, but I'll throw in a slab of monster sized-Fosters cans, a slab of homebrew to your liking, a super sized caterers tub of Vegemite, and a dead wombat.

To top it all of, we'll have a hit of tennis with the new gear, drink the beer after, throw the vegemite away and try not to hit any wombats on the way home. Now I can't do much better than that. My pencil is as sharp as it gets!

Sorry mate, the Fosters availbale in the US is made in CANADA!!!! by Carlton and United Breweries. under the so called supervision of a few drunk aussies.

Hey, tell me what you need from the US. I'll ask my mates at work (mostly Aussies) to see if anyone is going back home this summer.

Btw, that vegemite looks really scary......

    Thanks Matchpoints,

I am after a matched pair of Wilson Tour 90's, heaps of Luxilon strings, and Tournagrips.

Why are there so many Aussies where you work?

Vegemite is great stuff. Have you tried it?

Our Fosters in the USA is horrible, not even as good as Bud, I bet the Aussie Fosters is better though. Do they have Outback Steakhouses in AUS? LOL

What about Castlemaine XXXX is that actually made in Australia?

It tastes to me like Carlsberg with a bit of an aftertaste.

Hey Alan, the whole of Australia is practically an outback steakhouse. We export a lot of our marbled beef to Japan I believe and they can't get enough of it.

XXXX is made is Brisbane. The Queenslanders like it a lot. For me, the best beer is the stuff I brew myself. Nothing like a good malty pilsener, SAAZ hops, and cascade on the nose. Lightly carbonated and aged for at least 3 months. mmmmmm beer...

If I keep brewing and drinking, I'm going have to play more tennis to stay fit. I know that Pat Rafter always enjoyed a beer or two. I've always remembered the time that he just lost a fantastic point by a great shot from his opponent. Overwhelmed by it, he yelled out "Give me a beer!!!!". Showed that he was really down to earth. Anyone else remember this event?

Don't get me started on Newk. George Bush snr called him a "black belt beer drinker". Good one. What do the Texans drink?

Texans drink the usual American beers, Bud, Bud Light, cheap swill. I bet many a Pat Rafter loss could be attributed to his getting slammered the night before...
