I blew through a set of X1 Biphase Main and Kirschbaum Helix cross in 3 hours.

The poly cut right through the multi. It really didn't even have a chance to fray.

Would the strings last longer if I used a synthetic cross, such as Gosen OG Sheep Micro?

    Any other ideas?
    Thanks

    Happy Thanksgiving too!

Of course, incl. syn gut like forten sweet, prince, etc. Even a teflon infused poly, like alu power or power rough, as those indents don't cause friction on mains. Or global gut, or any soft non textured cross.

Strange how you say so. I play with a poly in the mains (SPPP) and X-1 in the crosses. After about 10 hours, still no cutting.

How tight do you string the crosses and mains? They rub harder against the other if you string them at the same weight.

With hybrids, when both strings are smooth they tend not to bite into each other as much.

I string at X1 at 50 main and the cross Helix at 47. I noticed that strings last much longer if I put the X1 in the crosses. However, I prefer it the other way around.
