Any overgrip sweat absorbent recommendations?

Discussion in 'Other Equipment' started by Desiiliciouss, Jun 7, 2010.

  1. I recently started to get back into playing tennis on regular basis and had ordered couple of over grips since I go through them regularly due to extreme sweating. I also do wear a wrist band but it seems as soon I put on a new overgrip, within hours, it feels it needs to be replaced. I do not know anything about grips nor know the difference (tacky, non-tacky, absorbent, durable, etc.) I always just picked random grips and last time around picked 5 (listed below) but still haven't been impressed with any.

Is there a particular kind/brand that you use that you would recommend that has extreme sweat absorbent in hot/humid weather but then there are like me who sweat a lot?

I have gone through the following:

    • Kirschbaum Touch It Overgrip -
    • Pacific ATP XTR Overgrip 3-Pack (Orange)
    • Prince DuraDry+ Overgrip Grip Black
    • Dunlop Hydramax Overgrip Grey -
    • Babolat Pro Tour Overgrips

I use Yonex Supergrap. Get the reels off TW.

I sweat a lot and my country in near the equator.

Buy the double wide wristbands from Nike. Its tighter and absorbs sweat quite decently from your forearms before it reaches your palms. Wear it on both hands if you're double backhanded.

Forget the wristbands from Adidas. Those are loose and cannot effectively absorb sweat from your arms.

Gamma Supreme Overgrip. It's nothing short of its name.

Gamma Supreme and Wilson Pro Overgrips are great for the rest of the year, but for days with high humidity, nothing beats Tournagrip. It doesn't feel as nice as those other 2, but it abosorbs sweat very well.

Yonex Supergrap is the best "tacky" overgrip that I have used for also sweat absorption. But if you sweat a great deal, a tacky overgrip may not be for you.

Gamma Supreme Overgrip would be the obvious winner.

I would agree with this to the T. I just went through 2 Yonex Supergraps in 2 hours last night, and then bought a reel of tourna. The summer is tourna for me, and the rest of the year I use Wilson Pro or Supergrap.

I struggled w/ overgrips for years and never usede one for more than a day or two ever. Tournagrip is good for a match and that's it. I've used Rosin, a glove, and everything imaginable until.......

I bought a Yonex Wave Grap Overgrip (yellow) from Tennis Warehouse last summer. If you can stand to have a ribbed grip (doesn't bother me), it will last a long, long time. I've had mine on my racquet for nearly a year. THE SAME GRIP! I can't believe it. I sweat like crazy too. I drip like I just got out of a swimming pool and this grip still goes strong.

I wouldn't/can't recommend any other grip. Buy the YONEX Wave Grap Overgrip.
