    Hey TW

Any plans to do a review on the new BLX 6.1 Team? the racquet pattern change seems like a great idea by wilson compared to the older model

That racquet needs some love. It especially needs a look since it's changed it's string pattern from dense to open.

i think the thing that interests alot of people is that this maybe the platform to customize compared to what most people thought the PS 95 was going to be

Sorry Centryx, but we don't have any plans to review the six.one Team at this time.

    Cheers,

Could you review this decision in light of units sold? That is, if the previous version of this racquet was perhaps popular and sold well then a review of the new model may be warranted (and of course vice-versa).

I am unsure how you arrive at your review decisions but any insight into the process might be helpful at this stage, otherwise we readers draw a blank and cannot understand why.

i think chris did a short review on this racquet once on the message boarsd and he loved it with some lead up to about 12 oz in the handle

of course that was on the 18x20

this 16x18 looks interesting,....this could be the tru replacement for the original 6.0 95 (with some lead) instead of that new pretender 16x 19 box beam Wilson has now

Please do not review this racquet. A 95 sq.in. racquet that only weighs 10.7 sounds like a bad joke.

I think it could be a very interesting stick to customize. Slightly thinner beam and a bit more flex than the 6.1. If it has the right feel could be really nice for some who don't like the new pro staffs and you can include me in that group but love the regular 6.1s but find them at tad too heavy at times.

I may go with the European 6.1 BLX as it's between the two in weight.

Ha, its funny how random ppl are trying to give him advise and I'm pretty sure none of them are close to that level. What's funnier is all the internet hacks saying that's just a 5.0. I've never seen a 5.0 play like that, haven't seen a guy in college play like that.

    Hi bertrevert,

Yes, that is the the Wilson BLX Six.One Team racquet for 2012 in the 16x18 string pattern. However, the 16x18 string pattern is the only string pattern available for the 2012 Six.One Teams in the US currently. The older version of the racquet has the 18x20 string pattern.

    dmcb101,

Yes, we are trying to fit it in the next round of playtests. The estimated time of completion is 6-8 weeks.

    Thanks,

I thought the old version of the BLX 6.1 Team was a nice stick.

I think there's a perception problem going on with this racquet because as soon as you add a 'Team' tag to something, people start giving it a swerve, but its in the same weight class as something like the Babolat Pure Storm GT and in my view the 6.1 Team is a better stick than that.

It's even better with a few grams of lead around 3+9 and a small amount of counter balancing in the handle (a 5g OG will suffice). I do hope that they increase the stiffness slightly with new version, as the old version, although very comfortable, is slightly more flexy than I would prefer.

I sense the winds of change are blowing...

A playtest would allow us to see it in action and how the playtesters perform with it compared to other racquets they've tried. They're not unbiased but it's pretty close to allowing us to look unbiased-ly. Particularly because us overseas buyers cannot demo the 16 x 18 stringbed.

    cheers in hope

i have a feeling that most the playtesters will find the frame too light needing some lead (esp. in the handle area)

Yeah that is probably true. I just hope to hear what they think is unique about this racquet. From what I hear it is a pretty solid feeling racquet for being much lighter than its six.one 95 big brother. If that proves to be so, hello maneuverability!

My thinking and hopes for this stick would be a really nice light slightly more flexible alternative to the regular 6.1 16 * 18. I really like the new BLX 6.1 my but sometimes it can be just a tad heavy for me and I wouldn't mind a touch more flexibility. The beam is slightly more narrow and in the description it says Composition: Karophite Black / Basalt which in the regular 6.1 it says just Basalt. I'd have to assume that they are extremely similar and weighting the Team up to say a 315-320 sw with 6-8pts hl it might be a solid performer with a touch more feel than than it's bigger brother. But as we know sometimes it doesn't always translate that way. Looking forward to finding out and maybe the review will give some clues.

    I used the k6.1 16 x 18 and had a blast with it...

However the weight led to some hyper-extended elbows, some late backhands, and some tired serving in long matches. But by crikey it blatted the ball.

Bring on the review of this new Team in 16 x 18....

Interesting. That is definitely a racquet I would swing. Unfortunately I will be endorsing Wilson so I can't actually use that one but it looks really awesome

The last time I looked into a potential review of this racquet it was stated that it was scheduled to be about 6-8 weeks. Just checking in too see if you guys are still planning on doing a review. Thanks!

Yes! We are actually shooting the video portion of it on Wednesday and that should be up by next week. The written should follow up in a couple weeks!

    dmcb101,

We had a couple injured/ill playtesters so we weren't able to shoot the video until this week! I'm sorry but the video will definitely be up next week (with written to follow shortly there after) as it is currently in the process of being edited! Thanks for being patient!
