Is there any player who can (could) hit and use 1HBH and 2HBH equally well in real matches? I don't mean 'mostly 2HBH with slice 1HBH'.

I remembered Goran was able to do this. He could come over w/a 1hbh and slice it. I know there's another play that returns with 2 hand but plays with 1 hand, this guys's too unknown for any1 to remember his name.

Yeah, I guess it would be too difficult to master both. I remember Graf actually had quite good looking 1HBH (surprised her opponents and me too) but using it during matches is a different matter I guess...

Daniele Bracciali? Never heard of her...;)

OH OH, I am sorry. I googled and found some pictures showing HIM hitting both, yeah!

Jim Courier occasionally used a topspin 1hbh on the run. Marc Rosset as well, although neither was that great.

Actually, a fairly decent number of players with one handers occasionally return with both hands for extra stability.

In particular, James Blake does this often.

Double player Johnathan Erlich, I've seen him in Shanghai with Andy Ram, acutally beating the Bryan Bro in 3 sets

    warm up, 1 hand

    return, 2 hand

flashy outright shot - 1 hand

baseline rally shot - 2 hand

I actually do it...I play 2handed backhand from the baseline but when I get a real short ball I hit it 1handed!

    ...

I find the best thing for a two handed backhand player is to learn how to hit the one handed backhand as well (Topspin, flat, and Slice)...a two hander is awsome when in control, but when you are on the run, a nice flat one hander down the line is what would help....Im suprised I havent seen pro players really do this, and not slice, all two hander can slice with once hand..

Me too. 2hbh in regular play, but short and slow balls I always attack with topspin 1hbh.

Reading some of the analysis bout Agassi BH I think he could have used a one hander...I saw a video from the early 90`s at French where hes other hand seemed to slip out of the racquet at a very early stage of the followthrough. So hes other hand isnt even contributing that much to hes BH.

Safin has a mean one hander if you get to see it.

I think I've seen Roger Federer using 2HBH to return a serve but don't recall when. Somehow I think Safin can do anything with his racquet. I am pretty sure he can hit topspin 1HBH when he wants. I think his 2HBH is ugly-big guy with such a small headed racquet, it's like a spoon!

For a while it was like there are only Baseliners with 2HBH but since Federer emerged, I think I am seeing slight more variety (or some young players who come to the net more often than NEVER). Yeah, tennis evolves. Do you think there will be a day most of players will (have to learn to) hit 2HBH and 1HBH (not just slice but topspin too) in the future?

Dosent Youzhny use both 1hbh and 2hbh? His 2hbh is very similar to a 1hbh with that left hand follow through

Serena williams has taken up the habit of, everytime when her opponent is at the net warming up, hitting very nice looking 1-handers... Matter of intimidation I guess...
