Did anyone catch the bogus commentary on the tennis channel today in the murray/chardy match? I think it's really funny how they try so hard to promote the new rackets when its pretty obvious that the majority of pros are using PJ's. The guy was saying how murray had the month time between wimby and us open series to adjust to his new frames and that it appeared he was very comfortable with them.

It's not that obvious. Even many experienced commentators do not know PJs exist. In fact, I'd venture that almost no fans outside of forums like this have any idea, even if they're die-hard fans.

This may come as a surprise, but I feel most tennis fans are occupied with the tennis and do not usually care as much as we do about equipment and the like

Yes.. I always wonder myself if the lucky ones are us or them. Sometimes ignorance is a bless and they don't know anything about the equipment makes them more consistent mentally because they simple don't give a sh1t about that and focus on the gameplay.

Many of these commentators (Gilbert, Cahill) STILL have contracts with racket manufacturers, and have prob been "persuaded" in one form or another to "promote promote promote" ... does that include telling ewveryone that the player has apaintjob?? No!!! Just today I heard Robby Koenig bring up the fact that many players use Tournagrip...then quickly realized what he had just done and said, "I've never used it...ever...Wilson grip is the best!!!" Laughing as he said it...right.

I used to think most people knew about PJs, until some days ado i was talking with some friends about the racquets pros are using and when i said that some pros dont actually play with the racquet they promote, just paint their racquets to look like them, they couldnt believe it. I actually felt a little sad because it was kinda like telling them santa isnt real
