I grew up in Orlando, but now live about an hour east on the coast.

I played at Lake Cane as a junior. Many of the same people that ran the club when I played there in the 90's are still there, and I don't think you can ask for a better group of people. They truly care about junior development - the academy was extremely well run, every summer we did team tennis (and did very well at the state level - semi's both years I went), and there were group trips to regional tournaments. The director and the guys in the shop absolutely loved the juniors, and you can bet if there was any way for them to cut you a break they would.

I've got a lot of great memories of playing eight hours of tennis a day there as a junior.

The same director runs "The Club Orlando", which is what I think the Orlando Tennis Center turned into. I never attended academy or took lessons there, but we were close to their juniors and the competition was always pretty good.

I think the link was www.mgtennis.com. I'm actually thinking about driving out there to take lessons from my old pro now that I'm back into tennis, despite some great pros at my current club.

Dunno about stringing. I had plenty of racquets strung there, and never had a problem. Then again, I find that stringing "quality" is something that's extremely subjective, unless you're talking about a string breaking at the grommets.

There may very well have been a program for beginners going on. They do multiple levels of academy. We never had any on who was visiting in the tournament level academy.
