    Ups...

Ok, ok,ok, Rogers avatar, and signing as Fed fan.

    1.- You are nadal-Freak

2.- You did not see Roger on QF, semis.

3.- You did not see semis vs Nando

    4.- You need to sleep.

    Just a jock my friend.

Is not going to be easy for both, this is not clay or grass, and Verdasco shows how to play Nadal.

    I go for Federer in 4 .

    Regards

What makes you say that? Nadal barely scraped through....he got lucky...and his luck is going to run out in the final.....I hope Federer destroys him!

    1) Please don't call me Nadal Freak - I hate the guy.

    2) I did, and he played very well, and I wish that's enough.

    3) I did, Nadal looks very tired now.

    4) In my country it's afternoon now. :)

    5) I wish you are correct with your prediction.

I really hope Federer can take this. All the signs ar there. We know how Nadal falls apart when he is tired (Hamburg 07).

Why? I want Federer to win. What I want does not always fit what reality wants.

Also, the last time Nadal was standing between Federer and a record breaking, Federer came up short (just barely though). Now, Federer is one match short than reaching 14, and like you'd expect Nadal is the man who's looking to stop him.

if Federer lose this one then i don't know what to say except that he has some kind of fear of Rafa (but we already know that).
Everything is on his side, from court to crowd to physical state.

Who knows, I mean, last time they played on hard courts Federer murderd Nadal. The crowd will favor Federer, and so will the surface, and the pysical state too. However, this was also the case at Wimbly, and Federer completely choked away the 2nd sets (which I think lost him the match). How can you bet against Rafa after 2 slam finals he beat Roger? The most important part of the game - the mental state, will favor Rafa.

Hopefully I'm dead wrong and I'm dumb for voting for Rafa - but that is how I feel.

I think Fed will win in 4 but I am afraid he might start chocking and have to win in 5. Something similar to 2007 Wimbledon final. He might even come back from a break down in the 5th. Then of course we will hear no end of excuses how Nadal would have won if he had more rest and blah blah blah.

^ Federer has to come in the form he was against Del Potro, and confident. Then it'll be TMC 2007 all over again.

    Nadal in four sets.

He plays extremely well these days. So does Federer, but I have a feeling that Rafa can do it. We'll see...

The reason why Federer has no chance v Nadal in AO 2009

All those balls Nadal hits deep into the corners, Federer struggles to hit big off them. Federer arrives later than a mover like Murray or Verdasco does and ends up mistiming the ball, over-cooking the ball or dumping it into the net.

In fact its not that Federer arrives later than Murray/Verdasco (although he does but only marginally), its that Federer struggles to play running forehands/backhands when the ball has as many revs on it as Nadal's (20% more revolutions than any other player on tour). So for Federer to counter the deep spinning corner-ball he has to arrive earlier than a Murray/Verdasco - and he can't. Wimbledon wasn't bouncy enough (aleit bouncier than previous years) to make the deep spinning corner-ball escape Federer's grasp and Federer was able to hang in their (although he was down 2 sets to love before the rain). The Australian Open whereas has the bounce to make those deep spinning corner-balls a major problem.

All Nadal need do is keep the ball in the corners (he always does v Federer) rather than down the middle and its straight sets Nadal.

i know you're a fan and all but why must you assume things like that? you don't know what's going to happen .. and nothing can be predicted. I know this is a totally different scenario but everyone predicted djokovic to destroy roddick but roddick got through. Things happen in the world of sports that shock us all the time. All we can really hope for is a great match

It's all on tape, the ball moves away and he can't time it on a bouncy surface. Any other player who hits into the corners is controllable for him.

Either Fed in 4 (maybe 3) or Nadal in 5. Either way, Fed will win more total points. The sets Fed wins will be thorough. The sets Nadal wins will be squeakers. It's the ultimate shotmaker versus the uber pusher.

I don't remember being certain of a Djokovic win, in recent times, because his game hasn't looked consistently good (despite winning the last event of last year) since the start of 0eight. He just isn't a reliable player while Roddick you can be sure gives 100% and I never doubted that he could beat Djokovic.

You are a nutcake. NO CHANCE? You've got to be kidding me.

If Nadal starts pushing like he was against Nando at times, Fed is going to make him pay. He can flatten those high ones out with the FH, and he can also come to net.

Last year was last year, Federer wasn't quite right all year until the QF of the USO. Of course, he turned it on at Wimbledon, but it still wasn't the same as with having a solid season behind him (per his standards) up until then. It bears little one what happens here.

If anything, Federer displayed incredible mental strength at last year's Wimbledon, almost coming back from 2 sets down.

With such moronic comments, it's not tough to see how some proper Fed/Nadal fans get drawn to the dark side of the **** force.

I don't even know why you're bringing up wimbledon. Rafa's obviously better on grass than he is on hard courts (moreso than fed) and roger is playing better now than he was last year.

I call it bouncey because this covers both clay and hardcourt. I'm saying that grass doesn't provide this device for Nadal's wide-ball.

then tell us why this is his first AO final if it complements his game so much. He's made 3 wimbledon finals, obviously he plays better there.

Roger in 3! Roger wants this too badly and after last year the one thing Roger does well is respond emphatically when the pressure is on and the critics grow in numbers. I exclude the French Open because Nadal OWNS that event.

After the 5hr+ match last night, there are no excuses.

The problem with Nadal is that he just played a 5 hour plus match against Verdasco so I'm not sure he's going to be tired against Federer in the final. I would like to see Nadal win his first hardcourt major but I have my doubts due to the long match in the semi's. Federer will definitely be the fresher of the two.

Hopefully this thread can be kept troll-free! ;)

This is going to be a tough one... I feel indeed, either Fed in 4 or Nadal in 3 or 5, strange as it may sound.
It will depend on Fed rather than on Nadal. Nadal is consistent, barely has blips and playing very, very well. He won't show any lapses in this match, as he hasn't in any other of his either.

Which Fed will turn up? If it's the brainfarter-version from the first two sets in the final at Wimbly and at the Berdych match - Nadal in 3, no question about it. Rafa will kill him off in no time.

If it's Fed the Magnificent, with all shots working well and a great serve - Fed in 4 (yes, I still expect ONE Mirkaland-game, and that's going to cost him a set).

If it's a 'good' Fed, it will be a grinding battle, and I expect Nadal to be the tougher one in the end, so... Nadal in 5.

Whatever happens, these two players deserve it to be in the final, and I feel like it's a pity that it's just not possible to saw that trophy in half and give it to them both!

since the other thread was deleted already, if fed starts slowly or choking early on, he will take it in 4 or maybe 5. if he starts with the guns blazing right away, he can take it in 3, maybe easy sets.

it will also depend on nadal. i doubt he can eliminate federer in 3 even if fed is playing at the berdych level if nadal keeps on hitting those short loopy balls and will go on to clay court mode.

What you are saying checks out. Except Nadal taking it to 5 and getting the trophy. Last night's display has to pass its toll sooner or later, and I don't see Nadal lasting that long (but he has proven us wrong before.) We'll see.
