It almost looks like Serena is trying to gift Sloane the match but she isn't taking it.

ouch... easy there tiger, my point was that Janko retired while receiving a proper beatdown during his match with Almagro, foot related i believe, while Serena not only toughed it out like a real competitor but also broke her opponent's serve.

he gave up and took the easy way out seeing as he was losing, Serena is still out there fighting.

The quality of this match has just tanked. One injured and can't move, the other is an error laden mess. And both are in slow motion.

Exactly! If Sloane were smart, she should be drop shotting Serena all day long to make her run and bend low.

Serena is going to win about 20-25 grand slams as we learned from one of her fanboys.

A work out is less strain on the body, and a player can stop as much as she desires. There's no opponent to force her to do things that can wear her down before she's physically ready. I have no doubt that she would not risk as much with only singles to tax her body.

This should be highly dramatic, but fairly low quality.

Maybe breaking the racquet will get her re-energized. She's obviously fighting the pain.

Very respectful to her opponent right there... Girl apparently looks up to Serena who just demolished a racquet because things are looking a bit grim.

Serena wrapped her A game in an injury so that if Sloan wins, the A game is protected.

Stephens is playing intelligently, nice to see someone play Serena without playing basher ball the entire time.

She's still green, but a match like this is the kind of experience she needs--at least for being able to hang in there no matter what's happening on the other side of the court.

Nice volley there. I love seeing players smartly come in. Li Na has really improved in that regards and Stephens consistently tries to get into net.

Ha, Williams broke her BLX Blade 98.
Is there penalties for breaking racquets?

I think Sloane will hold on. If her nerves set in, then it's Serena somehow.
