Nice Li Na, wait to show class in a big moment too. Unlike the air-humping Sharapova after dismissing a legend in Venus Williams.

Great stuff, minus a hiccup or two if she plays like this I think she'll win another slam.

Rodriguez was definitely a good choice for her.

She did it! Yay. This was a Serena-like beat down on Sharapova.

Sharapova--with all of the TW hype about her being so strong....where did ot go? In the toilet, and look how fast she bailed from the court!

Players with full knowledge of the court will always dismantle Sharapova. It never fails.

Sharapova just lost 1100pts. Serena gained 220pts. Li back to
#5. And a young star on the rise. Looking forward to the final.

You need a brain to listen to coaches, and skill to hit shots. She has none.

    Good on Li Na!

At least it won't be another Sharapova vs. Azarenka screamfest final! Thank God!

These guys need to stop the leading questions. Just let her express herself without trying to feed her what to say.

They do this all the time, it's so annoying. Only Safin wouldn't play their game.

She does it so perfectly though. But there have been extremely sweet moments too so it all balances out.

 Could it be? The myth of a silent WTA Grand Slam finals, could it really happen?!

    Let us pray...

This, after Sharapova won her first two matches 6-0, 6-0 and was up 4-0 on Venus before she lost her very first game of the tournament in the middle of the 3rd round.

I guess Sharapova should have also had fruit for breakfast like Li Na did instead of double-bagels. :)

That was the best I ever saw Li Na play.

The last time she beat Sharapova in a major....magic happened. Hopefully the same happens again against Sloane or Azarenka.

Oh yeah I agree, I just think it's funny that each time she wins and gives an interview, the husband takes a hit.

Too much carbs is bad for your body....Sharapova had indigestion problems.....fruits thankfully don't hurt you.

I want Azarenka to win; she is the best of the young guard, and needs this second major to give her the vision to press ahead as the likely future of the women's game once the older legends retire.

2013 AO is turning into a dandy!

I see the new coach Carlos Rodgriguez projecting himself thru this new Li we've been seeing lately.
Even her strokes resembling those of Henin.. lol.
Li looming like a 6'6" giant out there.

Always a pleasure to watch filthily-overvalued over-entitled victory-palm-making generic bland one get her rear whooped...

Maria lost 9 games in 5 matches. Then 12 in an hour and a half against Li. Whoa.

Whereas I want Azarenka to STFU!!! That scream-wailing that lasts forever until her opponents hit the ball is the most annoying thing in tennis. If Azarenka never plays another tennis match it won't be soon enough.

damn...i thought maria would win, she's been handing bagel and breadsticks and suddenly she went out in two sets.

    did Li play that great?

There's something about Li vs. a yellow (hollering) Maria. Funny that half the women's field came dressed in yellow and now the 3 remaining players are relatively purple.

This is why bagels and straight setting is overrated. Difficult victories leading to a trophy is much better than easy route but failing to bag the trophy.

Better. She demolished shara in every single way possible.

Loved the deer in headlights look Shriekapova had, no clue whatsoever how to play tennis if her power doesn't work.

Uhmmm hold up. Are you really comparing Maria beating a weak Venus, Flipkens, Makarova etc. to a Top 10 player?

    Are you REALLY that surprised??

    LOL.

Yes she did. Her crosscourt forehand was beastly. She moved great and could hang with Maria's power without any problem. She came up with some clutch serves at important points.

Now that 1-D Maria is out, I will be satisfied with any of the three remaining ladies winning.

Vika has the best all around (not to be confused with all court) game in the WTA. Joy to watch (not to be confused with listen to.)

Li is playing great and is delightful.

    Sloane would be someone new.

Crazy to think that a year ago, she choked 4 match points to a hobbled Clijsters and cried through her presser. Li deserves this.

She sure is. She's one of the few that's NOT a grunter/screamer/shrieker/wailer. Did you hear Sloane's opponent Jovanovski in the 4th round? It was like she was trying to break human decibel records. Incredibly annoying!!

So Shara looks unbeatable vs weak opposition but at the first obstacle, she deflates like a balloon. There are few pleasures in life and seeing tactics and variety defeating brute (and loud) force is definitely one of them! bravo Li Na, brilliant display.

More than that, she's not a mindless brasher and actually seems to have self awareness. If she can continue to play within herself, there's no reason she can't win a bunch more slams.

In fairness, I don't think there's much variety in Li's game. She just had better depth, better angles, and didn't lose her head as she's done in the past.

More than in Shara's game for sure but I agree the mental aspect was the most crucial today.
