Does anyone know how much an arthogram MRI would cost me if I want to pay for it from my pocket?

Insurance denied my request for an artho.

    Any pointers?

What will they pay for? And how much worse of a diagnostic would that be?

Prices for MRI's are all over the place - an arthogram in Dallas might cast $3500 and one in Salt Lake City could run only $2600 - you can call a local facility where you live and they can tell you exactly what it will run you. They all have payment plans...etc.

I guess, probably because I already had an MRI and attended PT sessions since early 2010??

The first question to address is what condition(s) are you looking for, and how will the results of the MRI alter how you approach it if you find it.

I would like to know if there is a complete tear somewhere in the shoulder joint and/or SLAP.

Look out, here comes the "facility fee" !!

I had received a notification that my charges were to change now to reflect a 'facility fee' for tests performed in a hospital clinic. I just saw one of these charges added to my pulmonary function tests and it was a shock.

The test itself takes about 20 minutes with a medical technician using a precision test instrument.

In Oct 2011 the charge for the PFT test was $375. In April 2012 the same test was $1435 including the facility charge. That's a 283% increase in 6 months. The facility fee added $1060 to the $375 charge for the PFT.

My insurance company said that they are seeing this excessive fee added to many bills recently. Don't worry business as usual.........

I don't know why this has come about perhaps due the new federal health insurance changes.

Check you insurance statements for the new charges............
