Asics Gel Res 4, not a patch on barricades

Discussion in 'Shoes and Apparel' started by Mrsbrownsboys, Jul 15, 2012.

  1. Just a quick update on these as a long term barricade users thought I'd try these out. First impressions definitely lights and less stability, more flexible than barricades...but

Ohhh my...the insoles ripped my feet to shreds, a few nasty blisters resulted in going back to my old barricades whilst my poor feet recovered. A few weeks later and the same thing, a very aggressive insole so ended up swapping with my old shoes as couldn't put up with it anymore. Performance has been mediocre at best. On a slightly damp hard court ive slipped which could have been really nasty, never would have happened with the barricades. Grip not good. Also the wear is showing miles faster than the barricades, the outside of my right is disappearing fast and now noticed the rubber PGuard is now starting to lift from the shoe..

Only had them a few weeks. Not impressed. Will back to the barricades soon as these start coming apart which won't be that long by the looks of it.:(

wow, that good to know before spending so much money.
I also use Barricades and would be very disappointed to discover
Too many downsides for around the same price.

Test your own shoes for goodness sakes! I, and many other players, have used GR4's with NO PROBLEMS what so ever. So before you dismiss a shoe with near universal praise, try them yourself... get a used pair or something.

    Good God people.

sorry, i didn't meant to decide or say they are not excellent.
i just have trouble getting them in Israel so i was interested in hearing different opinions, that's all.

get your feet fitted for custom insoles, it is worth the money. no more hip or knee pain for me anymore. besides, shoe companys dont really intend for you to keep the insoles that come w/ the shoe. they are not high quality.

A lot of ppl complaint about the same thing with the GR3 but I found them to be the most comfy tennis shoes I have ever had (and I have B5, CB 1.3(?), Revive, Gel challenge, etc.).

The shoes are very playable and for me they already lasted longer than a year and still going (I rotate 3 pairs of diff tennis shoes).

The only complaint I have is the plastic web design on the outer side would break because of the natural fold of the shoe. However it does not destroy the shoe and upper is still fine, except the web looks ripped open a little.
