Do you ever use gamesmanship in the warm-up? Pretend you're worse than you are or intimidate the to other guy or something like this???

Nadal apparently hits much harder than everyone else in warm-up.

Get as many sponsors as you can and have 5 year contracts if you can get them at all for $$$$$$$$. That will keep you going to the right restaurants to eat and have some time to go up the ladder.

    Good luck!

Just like to say...tough loss the other day (Or was it today? They don't post match dates). Good luck next week.

So, do you hang around the tournament & hit with other players? Or do you pack up & head out to the next tournament?

Stringing at the $10K Futures in Sunrise, Florida and came across our very own, fpeliwo. As you all know by now, he made the finals of all 4 Junior Majors, and won the Wimbledon and US Open Championships last year. He is sure to be around for a long time on the ATP and definitely has the game to be a serious contender. Really smooth player on the court with amazing power, placement, change of pace, and the foot work is like he is skating on ice. SMOOOOOTH!

Very down to earth, genuinely nice guy, and great sense of humor. Really enjoyable to be around. Oh, and really great dancer. Just kidding, Filip.

    Anyways, thought I would share.

Each time I attend an ATP tournament I can't help to wonder how most of these pro players look taller and bigger than common people. It looks as if they are on hgh or some stuff.

Not sure if this has been asked, but I am wondering how much time you spend scouting or studying the game of upcoming opponents you haven't played before? How much strategy do you develop before each match, and how often do you find you have to adjust the strategy midway through your match?

I have a question, and I am not sure if you can answer this one because you are young but is it true there are groupies who follow ATP players around the world? For instance, in the NBA, and MLB I hear women go to the hotel where the players are staying and try to pick them up. Does tennis have female groupies or is this something that is just a rumour?

This would explain the many sightings of young men at tennis venues wearing red t-shirts with the "I am a TT fanboy" slogan across the front!:)

Hey guys been a while since I last posted here. Ill try to take the time to answer as many questions as I can! Again, as you guys keep asking about doping, I really haven't seen anything first hand, so I won't be answering those questions.

Its a 125mm that I string at around 52 lbs. Its a bit tighter than the Lux Original I was using, but I really like it. Yes, I go full poly

I don't, I just use the time to warm up. I don't think it really gives you anything. I mean I obviously try not to give anything away but you can't really do much in that 5 minutes.

It depends on the circumstances. Sometimes I'll hang around to practice and other times I'll pack up and head to the next one. Depends on a bunch of things

I don't go too much out of my way to scout my opponent. I'll try to find out what I can to a reasonable extent, if I can watch him play I'll try to. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out his tendencies and patterns, strengths and weaknesses during the match.

Yeah I usually take the losses with a lot of disappointment but I always look forward to the next match. I don't videotape my matches, but I do talk about it with my coach after I get off court, win or lose.

    Hey Filip!

Thanks for following up with your posts. Again, very nice of you to take time out of your day and share your thoughts on the boards with all of us.

By the way, I forgot to get the broken frame from you. Are you going to be around at Weston? If so, email me privately so I could go pick it up.

    drakulie@aol.com

Hope you enjoyed the stringing. :)

There's a very late season (November) Challenger in Champaign, IL just down the road from me. You should pencil it if you're still playing Challengers at the end of the year, and I'll bring a cheering section :)

    Hi Filip,

First of all, all the best for the 2013 season. :)

What do you think about the decline of net play in the past few years ? Which one do you think has been the most major factor ?

slowing down of the surfaces ? better returning and passing, in part due to poly ? many coaches going for the 'safer' option of baseline play ? any others ?

Hey filip I have a technical question because we had a heated discussion in the technique subforum about that:

there is this tennisspeed guy (Google or YouTube him) that Claims that the top pros hit Topspin with a slightly closed racket face and actually a Little below the sweetspot (towards the bottom beam of the rackethead) which causes the racket to tilt and create more spin.

I was doubting this and saying the closing will happen after contact because the ball is sliding down the strings.

What is your take on that? Do you feel like you hit the Topspin with a closed racket face or even in the lower part of the stringbed? or is this a myth?

    here is a Video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmmKlOFKqvE

he Claims that is intentional but I would say this is more of a shank (which fed sometimes does).
