I love Murray. thanks for posting this video. I love Fed's game and I can watch him 24/7 (Fed is still God in my book :)) but there is something about Djokovic and Murray that I simply love, their sense of humor and their personalities ... they both seem to be uninhibited guys... OK, Djokovic is officially crazy, lol ... I love it but gosh, I want Murray to win that first slam so bad...

Nice article and video, his trudging walk in the end is quite endearing, reminds me of Rainman, lol.

Hate to say it but I agree with you.

Interesting how his ambitions have changed from wanting to be top 10 but also interesting how he downplays his USO Junior title hinting that he realistically had bigger hopes than top 10.

^ After seeing that I am wondering whether he lacks ambition, whether he accepts being an also-ran. I know you can't judge based on a video taken ages back, but still .. that's the feel i get.

He's a dour, no-nonsense Scot who talks about himself very modestly and realistically and yet very maturely for an 18 year-old I thought. He certainly has ambition but he expresses it in a very typical, matter-of-fact, modest way laced with a bit of droll humour which is typical of many Scottish (and British) people. He doesn't hype himself at all and yet he knows his ability and what he can potentially do.

Considering all the stick he gets on here for his 'weak' forehand, I lolled when he said it was his favourite shot along with the drop-shot. No mention at all of his awesome back-hand. :)

It remains a bit of a puzzle why, having spent 3 of his formative years training on Barcelona's clay courts, it turned out to be his worst surface, the only one where he has yet to win a title or even make a final! Talk me through that one Andy.

As to whether he did the right thing by giving up football for tennis...who knows? We don't know what kind of footballer he would have made! But he's certainly carved out a great career for himself on tennis courts....better than most!

Indoor courts were hard wired into Murray well before Clay.
With Scottish weather you don't have a choice.

Sure. But I would have thought his 3 years training on clay in Spain would have given him more of a natural feel for it. I think he once said, probably about the same time as that video, that he actually thought clay was his best surface!
