Such massive forehands and still lost the point.
lol I know so many....
Good news is this is how he has to play...bad news is Istomin cannot miss a shot right now, he is just in a zone.
why does a player make a big show after each UE?
cuz he's trying to distract his opponent's focus
unfortunately for andy roddick, denis istomin is focused in like a laser ... andy serving 2-4
A pity that a Roddick won't go through to the semi's! The second serve return stats is digustful from Roddick.
i'm more surprised by the poor stats as regards his own serve... even his 1st serve doesn't seem to do much damage. :?
(67% points won on 1st serve ?... indoor ?)
Roddick should not w8 for 2013 to retire he should retire this year after USO. He is not gonna win any title this year for sure.
If Roddick can't make a real run in a 250 event with no top 20 players around, what does the future hold for him? I just don't see this guy as a contender for a Masters title, much less a Slam.
had 2nd row seats for the night session yesterday, watched roddick/istomin and benneteau/darcis.
both cool matches. benneteau/darcis was the better match by far. i never though benneteau was that entertaining of a player, but after watching him live i do have a new respect for him. i never kept up with darcis, but he's got some beautiful strokes, especially on the backhand.
i go to this tournament every year and again had great time watching.
Nice! I didn't see the Istomin/Roddick match as it was 3.ooam where I am - was Istomin good? I am thinking he can beat Benneteau tonight and have a crack at his first title....
he played well! the match was a mix between roddick playing decent, losing big points, and istomin playing strong, solid tennis.
i like his chances against benneteau, but not so much against raonic/harrison.
hope denis wins it, he seems like a good guy.
My thoughts too - I hope he does it!! thanks
Allez Julien! Going to a third in the second semi.
Istomin wins....his first title my come right now!
I took a few pics today at the day session:
Thank goodness for SAP's sponsorship because I don't think this tournament is making much money from ordinary ticket sales.
The place always looks empty, even with all their little tricks to make SJ Arena look like a decent tennis facility.
Who is this Istomin fellow ? Him destroying roddick wasn't a fluke afterall. it looks like.
He extracted two tiebreak sets from Berdych at Wimbledon in the year the Czech made the final, so he's been a threat for some time now.
Especially if he's going to continue to act like a spoiled 12 yr old country club brat whenever he is losing to someone outside of the Top 4. I'm sure he's frustrated that he keeps getting these injuries - but maybe he needs to realize it's a sign that it's time to call it a career.
Almagro and Volandri are tied at one set all 6-3 4-6, their first deciding set since 2008.
Ahem, wrong thread...
Is he a good mover ? He seems like another one of those guys with Power from every corner, but has average movement so can't break thru in big tournaments kind of guy.
His movement is very good if you ask me!
