Guessing because they don't update ranking in the middle of a slam?
See similar gaps when AO and RG occured this year.

^ Really, hadn't noticed. Wondering why. They don't do this for other 2 week tournaments, do they?

Yes. If you check the ATP rankings during Indian Wells and Miami, they don't update them then either.

This year there were new rankings figures on:

    January - 2,9,16,30 -23rd missing for AO
    February - 6,13,20,27
March - 5,19 - first week IW and Miami missing

No they don't update during the slams and the two long masters because the tournaments aren't over yet and people are still accumulating points.

That is irrelevant. There have been times when a slam final was delayed and not played on Sunday -- yet the rankings were still updated on Monday.

They usually wait until after the delayed final is played because the outcome could determine the rankings of either winner or loser. When this year's French Open final was delayed until the Monday, the ATP rankings did not update until after it was played.

Like the others said, rankings are updated weekly or biweekly (if there's slam competition). When the Rome final earlier this year was delayed, the rankings weren't updated until after the delayed final, I believe. It's just easier and more consistent to update the rankings for everyone at the same time, I believe.
