In the ATP website it says that Nadal is trying to win all 3 clay court MS events in the same year which hasn't happened since 1990. I don't think that in 1990 the same person won all the 3 MS events on clay.

    Juan Aguilera won Hamburg
    Muster won Rome
    Andrei Chesnokov won Monte Carlo

Any idea which year they meant?

I think it was in 1990 that the then called 'Super 9' series was changed to the new format the 'Masters Series'. In other words they are saying that no one has done it since the Masters Series events were introduced.

That must be it then, thanks :)

No one has ever accomplished this feat then. No one has ever won all 3 clay MS events and no one has won all the 3 MS events and the RG in the same year.
Nadal could write history in the next few weeks.
