How about Federer losing to Ferrer?

He may not even end up in Fed's side of the draw. And is he even playing this event?

Checking the weather in Melbourne now and to my surprise and disappointment it's only 81 degrees, and it won't get much hotter either the coming days.
Was hoping for some tough conditions with temperatures going past the 100 degrees :)

I don't understand why they don't have 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3 like in any other normal draw. It just makes sense. Djokovic shouldn't have to play Federer.

Federer doesn't care about the #1 ranking anymore. He has almost no chance of ending the year #1 and that's the only record he'd want, anyway, as far as the rankings go. As for having something to lose, Rosol has a lot to lose too. I mean, 1 Slam is better than 0, no?

#1 and the #2 seeds will never meet until the finals, whatever the draw.

This should be the draw where the organisers put Federer with the easier of the top 4 seeds, in theory Ferrer. A Federer vs *anyone* final is the best PR ticket by miles for the tournament so Djokovic and Murray should be on the same side.

He won't, unless they both reach the final. They're on opposite halves of the draw.

We both know you'll do that only if Fed wins the title :)

Fortunately for you, the chances of that happening are slim.

On a completely unrelated note... did Nadal take an MTO in the first set in the 2011 FO final?

OTOH I believe he did at 5-3 to Federer. I don't think it was a MTO as such, but I think he got his foot re-taped or something.

When the guy announced they have five Grand Slam winners in the mens' field, that was so... unimpressive. LoL

Of course, that's because the same few guys have won almost all the Slams since forever, but still.

The five would be Federer, Djokovic, Murray, del Potro, and Hewitt.
