    Federer.....hopefully.
Why couldn't Djokovic or Murray draw Raonic. :(

If Fed plays as well as he played against Tomic, Raonic will be easier to beat despite his monster serve. Straight sets with maybe two tiebreaks.

I think it being BO5 may help Federer to be a bit looser, and help him relax and break easier. I'd say Fed in 3, with 1 TB.

Very difficult first and second set, if Federer can win in both tie breakers or breaks at least once he will be solid going into the third or fourth set if needed.

Roger in 4 ... something like 6-7, 7-6, 6-4, 6-3 ... but a five-setter wouldn't be shocking with the faster speed of the court. Actually, the faster speed helps Rogi only when he gets to the semis. You'd think he'd want it slower for Raonic and Tsonga.

Raonic is quite comfortable playing Federer
has taken sets each time off him
let's see if he can upgrade on that
It will be tough, but ...

Anyway, very good performance by Raonic already. Better than expected based on the latest results.

Because Murray is the master of lucky draws. If Murray had drawn Raonic it would have been the kiss of death anyway, Raonic would have lost in 1R.

I think Fed will have a much easier time in the rallies against Raonic than against Tomic. How easy the match will be depends on how well Roger is able to return the big serve.

Fed in 3 if his return is as good as today. Once rallies ensue Raonic will create a UE after 5 shots or something.

    Wishful thinking?

Roger is not a MUG on fast conditions and no matter how fast it is, it can't be as fast as US Open.. And Roger will be comfortable in rallies :p

Murray played (and beat) Raonic in the 4th round of the last grand slam that was played.

I think this match is going to be very tough for Federer. Raonic is flying under the radar (much like Gasquet) and if his serve is on, Federer will have his hands full.

Going with Federer in 4 tight sets (2-3 breakers, 1-2 sets with only 1 break) but things can really get ugly if he's not on.

GS are a lot different from regular tour events, and I think if Roger takes the 1st set he wins in straights which is what I think will happen. If he loses the 1st as he's done in all their other matches it will be tight like it normally is, but then Fed wins in 4 IMO.

To be quite honest, I'm waiting for the first match where Federer really pulls away from Raonic, and doesn't give him the belief to win by dropping the first set. I keep getting this feeling that Federer will pull away in one of these matches before Raonic finally beats him (I know it sounds strange) and it would make sense if that match was at a GS.

Fed in 3, maybe 4 if Raonic wins a tiebreak set.

Hoping it's a day match. Midnight starts are tough.

If he's the next Sampras how in the blue hell is he going to break all of Federer's record, when Federer broke all of Sampras's records? Logic FAIL!

^^ I agree wholeheartedly. I have nothing against Raonic, but there's something eerie (right word?) about how strong and calm Federer is at the moment. I think he will set out to make a point and will win in 3.

Has Milos started representing Croatia yet? Either way, he should win in three or four sets.

As much as I'd like to se Raonic take down Federer, last time he face a top 4 player in a major he didn't have a single break point.

At least 2 tie breaks but Milos won't be able to break Fed, while Fed will break him once, maybe twice. Fed in 4.

I suspect it will be the night match. Good for Fed because the court is a bit slower at night.

Raonic's only chance to win sets is through tiebreaks. Maybe he'll get one or two of those, but there is no chance he wins this match.

Milos took a set when they played at IW. That was exciting.
They've both had a workout previous round. I don't see the Maestro falling out of this unless he has further back trouble. Is this a night match?

Raonic is looking pretty sharp right now, so I think he'll get at least 1 set off the GOAT. Federer in 4. I just hope it's a competitive match.

Fed in 4, will drop the first to a Raonic who comes out guns blazing, but will win the next 3 over Raonic with 3's and 4's

It could go either way. Could be a five set epic or a routine win. Obviously the crowd will be backing Federer all the way, and Milos will have to fight his way from being an underdog. That I think could spur him on. It's going to be a lot of first-strike tennis and much net play. Really hoping for a quality match!

I want Raonic to win, but I'm not certain who's going to. I just feel sure that the winner of this match takes it in 4 or 5.

As much as I like Federer, he does not have the experience nor success under his belt like Raonic does. As such I think Raonic will win this in 4 sets, losing just 1 set because of a tiebreaker.

The streak continues after a straight-set win vs Milosh...SexiRogi is sharp, facing little opposition on serve and getting just enough in his return game to win easily the first three matches. Raonic will have to up his return game (25% points won vs Kohlie) to put any pressure on Fed.

The AO centre court is just too slow for Milos to have a chance. If this was Wimby or some fast HC, Raonic playing at the top of his game against Fed on a bad day would have a very slim hope. But not here, at least in 2012.

Maybe in 2015 a 24-year old Milos could challenge a 33-year old Fed on slow HCs. But Milos is too far from entering his prime and Fed hasn't declined enough at the moment to make this truly competitive.

Once Federer gets a handle on the return Raonic has less game than Tomic in reality.

Raonic rallys too conventionally to beat Federer if it came down to that so the key area will be how well he can serve for the entire match and how quickly Federer can work out a pattern on return.

This ^. The match they played at Madrid showed just this. Raonic was fire and Federer was firing on 3 cylinders and he couldn't pull a win together.

Return points won is the key to their matches. Raonic has performed poorly generally.. winning only 17% of 2nd serve return points at Halle, 37% at Indian Wells and his best day was at Madrid where he got to 47%. In all he's broken Federer once in the 49 service games he's faced. Federer's broken him 5 times in the same number of service games.

On Serve: he had a first serve percentage of 85% at Madrid, his most competitive match. He needs to be over 70% imo to have a good chance vs Federer. His second serve winning percentage average vs Federer over their three matches is 55%... Federer's is 65%. This court will be more returner friendly than at least two of their three matches imo (Indian Wells and Madrid) so if he can't gets tons of first serves in he is toast imo. He's not going to outrun or outsmart Federer so he plainly needs to blow him off the court. Getting tons if first serves in is essential for him to do that.

Can he do it? Yesterday's form: He won 32% of return points vs Kohlschreiber yesterday and broke him only twice. Kohlschreiber isn't a particularly big server - and he only got 49% of his 1st serves in - so Raonic is going to need to step his return up a few notches if he wants to beat Federer.

Then Can you geniuses explain how federer was pushed to the limit everytime he played Raonic and within a few points distance of loosing???

I was there live in Madrid watching federer vs raonic.. EVERY serve of raonic was drawing ooooo aaaaaa's from the cword..

The threat is real.. I was also confident with tomic.. but raonic is a different ball game all together.. I would give it a 60% chance federer is going to win..

When facing anyone who holds serve as readily and efficiently as Raonic, there's inherently more pressure on the opponent. This is especially true in tiebreaks, where even if you hold your own serve, once you get past 5-5, you're always within a few points of a loss...anyone is prone to be upset, but in the times they've played, Raonic choked and/or Federer came up with some brilliant play to come back.

Federer got pushed to the final set of all 3 matches last year...on 3 different surfaces.

Surely Milos can take a set.
